The Celtics' fanbase, similar to the Bull's fanbase last season, are awaiting the return of their star point guard. However, with a team like the Celtics who are not expected to go far this year, the team may err on the cautious side so that they're playmaker is back at full strength. Brad Stevens' comments on Rajon Rondo's return agree with this, as reported by Chris Forsberg of ESPN."[Rondo] hasn't put a date on [a return], and we haven’t put a date on it," Stevens said before Celtics players and staff led a basketball clinic at Holland Elementary School in Dorchester as part of the Harvard Pilgrim Foundation’s annual community service days. "I told him, whenever he feels best and he’s ready to come back, we’ll support him and we’ll be happy that he’s back. But it hasn’t been a specific date. Literally, I haven’t even asked that question in the past couple of weeks."With the departure of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, Rondo is indisputably the best player on that team. Back in July, GM Danny Ainge was hoping to see Rondo at opening night, but former teammate Paul Pierce and current teammate Jared Sullinger hinted at a return date in December for Rondo. With the return of Rondo a mystery for now, planning for the upcoming season will be a struggle."That’s something that you have to balance," said Stevens. "You’re going to introduce some things that may be best for [Rondo, but] on Oct. 7, in our first exhibition game, he may not be available. You’re going to have to figure out where you go from there, and how to best fit pieces into those spots. But we have a lot of versatile guys, and I think we’ll be able to, when he’s not playing, do things that are conducive to the skill set of others and, when [Rondo is] playing, incorporate him into it easily."The Celtics are currently in the rebuilding stage, and although it would be great to have Rondo on the court to help teach the younger, less experienced players, the primary concern is having him healthy. In fact, rookie undrafted point guard Phil Pressey said working with Rondo for a couple of days had already helped him improve.Follow @hoopsinjurynews

Report: Rajon Rondo to miss start of season

Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo will likely miss all of the preseason as well as some regular season games, according to Rondo suffered a torn right ACL on Jan. 25.  The knee was surgically repaired

Video: Phil Pressey interview

Marc D'Amico interviewed Phil Pressey this week as training camp is just around the corner. Pressey is in a rather favorable position. Right now he's the only healthy true point guard on the roster, so not only does he have a solid shot at making the roster, but he could very well play minutes early in his Celtics career. If he sticks he also will get the chance to learn...

What to Expect From Rajon Rondo in 2013-14

Tim MacLean (@TimMacLean_) Predicting what the 2013-14 campaign has in store for Rajon Rondo is a bit tricky. At this point in the offseason we still aren’t sure when he’ll be ready to suit up and, as recent as today, the Celtics still have “no timetable” for his return. But given the state of this team, Rondo should be in no rush to get back on the floor with his teammates...

Jordan Crawford is ... "the leader"

I suggest you imagine the trailer voice guy reading the title, it becomes much scarier that way. Oh, and before it's too late, you can un-throw up in your mouth because this is not a quote from Brad Stevens or any other Celtic. It's directly from the invincible Crawford himself. #Celtics guard Jordan Crawford said in his 4th year in NBA he feels teammates are starting...

Joe Pace Almost Played for the Celtics?

Imagine having a 3 year contract for $300,000 in 1978 from the Celtics.  Imagine being at their summer camp in August and then just disappearing.  It sounds like a weird dream or a tale based on the Bermuda Triangle (or something involving a guy from WTHHT).  But it's totally real and totally happened to Joe Pace. To quote the famous Bob Ryan "they said he had possessed...

Kris Humphries would like to sign a "3 or 4 year deal" with Celtics, help them turn things around

Kris Humphries has been called a lot of things by Celtics fans, both before and after his trade to the Cs on July 12th. And most of them have not been good. After all, he is the man who got into a fight with Rajon Rondo and then complained about the scratch marks afterwards. He's also the dude who married Kim Kardashian. Which means you need to question every decision he makes...

Kris Humphries Doesn't Want To Be Part Of 'Tanking Situation'

Kris Humphries has spent the summer working on his game and says he is ready "to compete for a big role" on his new team, the Boston Celtics. Humphries has heard talk that the Celtics are trying to tank next season, but he does not want to be part of that situation and does not believe that is where Boston is headed. "I'm not looking to be a part of a tanking situation...

Celtics close to an agreement with 98.5 The Sports Hub to broadcast their games

Last month, WEEI announced that they would no longer be broadcasting Celtics games after the two sides could not reach agreement. At the time it was speculated that the other radio power in the city, 98.5 The Sports Hub, would pounce at the chance to add the Celtics. After all, the station already owns broadcast rights to the Patriots and Bruins, and by adding a 3rd team they could...

Jordan Crawford Says Celtics Are Starting To Look At Him As Leader

Boston Celtics guard Jordan Crawford is known for a nice dunk on LeBron James during a summer camp run, and for getting ethered by La La Anthony after a Knicks vs Celtics game. Crawford for the little he’s done in the NBA, still has some talent. Even with the Celtics being Rajon Rondo’s team, the fourth year guard out of Xavier believes that he’s looked at as a leader by some...

Kelly Olynyk Progressing, Hoping He Won't Be Limited

Plantar fasciitis forced Kelly Olynyk to skip training with the Canadian national team this summer, but the rookie said on Friday that he is progressing. "It's getting a lot better," said Olynyk. "Obviously, we’re still taking precautionary measures to make sure I’m ready to go for training camp; hopefully it doesn’t linger throughout the year." Pressed...

Your Morning Dump… Where Doc’s out to kill us all

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.  Rivers acknowledged that the 2011 Kendrick Perkins-Jeff Green trade was a mistake that ultimately hurt Garnett. “I think so,” reflected Rivers, “because we needed the toughness. The one thing we did by...

Doc Rivers admits Kendrick Perkins trade was a mistake

When it went down Celtics fans were up in arms — Boston traded Kendrick Perkins to Oklahoma City mainly for Jeff Green. Danny Ainge’s name suddenly came with a new adjective for Boston fans and it’s one we can’t repeat here. Since then Boston has defended the trade and as Perkins’ production has slipped some of the anger dissipated. Doc Rivers now admits it was a mistake...

Blake Griffin and Kris Humphries found out they both get mistaken for each other all of the time

Brothers? Blake Griffin and Kris Humphries get mistaken for each other all of the time I wonder what Blake Griffin secretly thinks when someone calls him Kris Humphries? Of course Griffin would never openly admit to what he is thinking when called “Kris Humphries,” but one could assume he probably isn’t too thrilled with it. Humphries on the other hand, probably loves it. This...

SQ13#33—List 2—Rotations?

There has been a lot of speculation on what kind of rotation the Celtics will have this year.  I think the best answer is that they will go round and round.  By that I mean that I think the question is incomplete.  The pertinent omission is When?  I suspect that the rotation in the first game of each month will not likely be the same rotation as used in the first game of the...
