The 2012 Olympics are just days away and many basketball fans are looking forward to an exciting tournament. And as the tournament nears, teams have been playing tune-up games including Team U.S.A. and Team Argentina.

Yesterday, Team U.S.A. and Argentina tangled in exhibition play and although the U.S. won a narrow game (86-80), it included a few testy moments between Luis Scola, Kevin Durant, LeBron James and Andres Nocioni.

And perhaps this chippiness is what led Nocioni to take a verbal shot at the U.S. when he says the Americans are beatable.

Andres Nocioni says he's not so sure Team USA will win gold.

OK ease up there Nocioni. Might not want to wake a sleeping giant especially seeing how both teams are in Group A which means more games against a stacked Team U.S.A.

The last thing Nocioni needs to do is give the Americans some lockerroom material heading into the tournament but at the same time, can you blame him for making the comment?

Argentina took the U.S. to the final moments of the game and considering Argentina isn't loaded with big men, Argentina proved a team with both experience, speed, chemistry can give the Americans trouble. Now add size like Spain and Brazil have on their roster, and the Americans could have issues in their march towards Olympic gold. Moreover, Argentina isn't a young team yet the younger U.S. struggled and eeked out a win which can only add to any chinks in the American's armor heading into London.

Sure, some may say it was just exhibition play but if the U.S. does play like they did against Argentina, perhaps Nocioni is right.

In addition, Argentina has been the only team to ever beat Team U.S.A., so if teams in the tournament want a blueprint on how to handle the might American squad, they need not look much further.

Sixers Launch Plan for “Center by Committee”

The Philadelphia 76ers announced yesterday that they have signed free agent center Kwame Brown. He was drafted out of high school by the Washington Wizards as the first draft pick in 2001. The fact that he has played for six teams in his 11 years in the NBA pretty much describes how his career has played out so far. He only played nine games for Golden State last season before...

Evan Turner Flattered By Kid Naming Pet Fish After Him, Calls It 'Huge Compliment'

Evan Turner is a rather accomplished basketball player. Entering his third season with the Philadelphia 76ers, Turner has already be named to the BBVA Rising Stars team and helped the Sixers qualify for the playoffs two consecutive seasons. Before that, he was the 2010 Big Ten Conference Player of the Year at Ohio State and a two-time All-Big Ten selection. None of that was enough...

Not getting excited about Sixer starting five another average season ahead?

Sixers move Hawes to Power Forward Getting excited yet this off-season for more Sixer basketball? Grading the Sixers moves this summer did not include staring down the starting lineup. After Coach Collins announcement of Kwame Brown being the starting center and moving Spencer Hawes to the power forward position I have been left with the hollow feeling of 41 and 41. This optimistic...

Sixers sign Harkless, Moultrie

The Philadelphia 76ers signed first-round picks Maurice Harkless and Arnett Moultrie, who was drafted 27th overall and traded to Philadelphia from the Miami Heat. Harkless (6-8, 208) turned 19 in May and left St. John's after his freshman season in which he was named Big East Rookie of the Year after averaging 15.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.4 blocks...
