The Orlando Magic weren't any one's fashionable pick to make the 2009 NBA Finals.
We knew that they had a force in Dwight Howard, along with a pair of mystery forwards in Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu, but that's about all we knew.
The guard play, which had been their weakness for the better part of a decade, was dependant on a Warriors' cast-off with no defensive reputation and a rookie from a nothing school were in the two, and no one really knew much about Jameer Nelson.
And somehow, they made it work.
Lewis and Turkoglu were a matchup nightmare for just about everybody in the league, Nelson blossomed into an All-Star, and Courtney Lee and Pietrus turned into legit wing defenders who could also score.
So the Magic rode their mismatches and their three-point shooting into the Finals, where they were outplayed by a deep team and undone by a little bit of bad luck.
