Pacers reporter Mike Wells of the Indy Star was asked which team the Pacers should avoid in the 1st round of the playoffs? I still say it’s Boston over any other team the Pacers could face in the first round. The Celtics are 2-0 against the Pacers this season and you can never shortchange any team that’s coached by Doc Rivers and has Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, both future Hall of Famers, on its roster. They’re the team nobody wants to face in the playoffs. The Celtics 83-81 win last week in Indiana left a scar on the Pacers. I’m not saying it would be easy, but I would pick Boston in 6 (or 7) over Indiana. This is a common theme. Last week, 5 bloggers named Boston as the lower seed most likely to pull off a Round 1 upset: Arnovitz: I’m pretty sure we’ll see “chalk” prevail in the Eastern Conference bracket this spring, but the Celtics have a history of siccing their defense on unsuspecting playoff opponents, so they’ve got a puncher’s chance. I can’t get on board with the Nets b...

Paul Pierce to sit against Charlotte; Jeff Green to start in his place

It is now official no Paul tonight. Jeff green starts34 minutes ago via Twitter for iPhoneReplyRetweetFavorite@gdickerson_csngreg dickersonPaul Pierce needed a night off against, I’ll just say it,  an inferior opponent.  He has been nursing a neck injury for quite some time, a rest should be good to keep him as fresh as possible heading into the home-stretch of the season.Last...

Paul Pierce Hopes Heat Loses All Of Their Remaining Games

You can’t tune out the fact that the Miami Heat have won 20 straight games and are now tied for the third-longest winning streak in NBA history. The longest, 33 in a row, was done by the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers. But, if you ask Paul Pierce what he thinks about the potential of playing the Heat on a 22-game win streak come Monday, he simply doesn’t care and if truth be told...

Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce Continue to Play Large Roles in Celtics’ Move Up in Playoff Standings (Audio)

It wasn’t that long ago that rumors were swirling about drastically changing the Boston Celtics roster to make a playoff run, but after no blockbuster trades were made, the C’s find themselves sitting pretty in the standings and working with what they have. Only 3 1/2 games back of the New York Knicks in the division standings, the Celtics can almost look back to earlier in the...

Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce Connected By More Than Just Gaudy Statistics in Sincere Friendship

BOSTON — Twenty years from now, in a break in the action during a Celtics game at the new TD Garden, some precocious little girl or some meathead from the South Shore will show up on the video screen for one of those fan trivia contests. At stake will be a free Apple iChip, the digital music device that is installed directly into the user’s skull, and the question will hearken...

Celtics not impressed by Heat winning streak

"I really don't even care. I hope they lose every game the rest of the season. I just worry about what this team does"-Paul Pierce I just love this team. No other team in the league is as hardcore as the Celtics. They don't care about being liked and what other teams/fans think of them.  They embrace the rivalry they have with the Heat and don't try to suck...

Celtics-Raptors Live: With Paul Pierce Back in Uniform, Celts Aim to Snap Losing Streak

8 a.m. ET: OK, so the first part of this back-to-back didn’t go the way the Celtics planned. With Paul Pierce taking the night off, the Celtics “laid an egg” in Charlotte on Tuesday, in coach Doc Rivers’ words, dropping their second straight game and losing a bit more ground in the Eastern Conference playoff race. Now, after failing to take care of business against the league’s...

5 Things Celtics must do to win tonight - Raptors 2/13

After last night's loss to the Bobcats, the Celtics will head home for a matchup with the Raptors. Last night's loss was depressing. They showed no effort and deserve criticism. They need a better game plan tonight. Here are the five things: 5. BETTER SHOT FROM KG: In Charlotte, Kevin Garnett shot just a horrible two of ten from the field. Of all the people to not try, Kevin...

Recap: Second half surge leads to blowout of Raptors

The Celtics took a 9 point lead into the half, but with about two and a half minutes to go in the third, the C’s hit the gas and left the Raptors in the rear view mirror.  They crushed the Raps 112-88 for their 10th straight home win.  The Celtics bench was a giant part of the blowout, outscoring the Raptors bench 58-29. The Green:  Paul Pierce had a nice return from his day...

Comments from the Other Side - Raptors 3/13

It was sad to see 4 pages on one game thread and 19 on another.   Those game threads used to have over 100 pages every game.  The Celtics did get the benefit of some calls last night.     I'm amazed at how many fans hate their head coach.   Makes me very thankful for Doc.  Good game for the Celtics.  Not so much for the Raptors.  Enjoy today's comments...   This...

Raptors-Celtics Preview

The Boston Celtics have played surprisingly well since losing point guard Rajon Rondo for the season. They were stunningly awful without Paul Pierce for the first time in 2012-13. Pierce should be back on Wednesday night when the Celtics try to win their 10th straight at home and 10th in a row overall versus the Toronto Raptors. After the Celtics' five-game winning streak...

Rivers Compares Avery Bradley’s Defense To Scott Pippen

In just his third year, Avery Bradley is one of the NBA’s best on-ball defenders. He’s impressed Doc Rivers so much that the Celtics head coach compares Bradley’s persistent defense to going up against one of the best defensive players of all time, Scottie Pippen. According to ESPN: Rivers has taken to comparing Bradley to the likes of Scottie Pippen, Derek Harper, and...
