Each year, the NBA releases a list of the top-selling jerseys of the season. Most years, the top of the list looks the same. This year, however, is an exception. Of course, there were your typical superstar players, such as Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. But the top of the list received a shakeup that even the most dedicated NBA fan couldn't have predicted. And that shakeup, of course, was "Linsanity." The Harvard graduate and former NBA-afterthought had one of the most incredible starts to his career, as he became the only NBA player to score at least 20 points...

QuickVid: Paul Pierce sits eye-level with Celtics 17 championship banners – AWESOME!

This gave me the chills and is totally worthy of a CLNS – QuickVid post! The newest promo for the 2012 NBA Playoffs, featured Boston Celtics captain, Paul Pierce, sitting in the rafters of TD Garden. Pierce cites Russell’s 11 titles, Bird’s 3 and, of course, Paul’s 2008 banner. My only criticsm is, why does [...]

Pierce's toe is fine, Ray's status still uncertain

The Celtics held their media session today BEFORE their workout, which is a little twist on things.  But they did say that Ray Allen will not practice today.  But everyone else is in. Twitter / @scott_souza: #Celtics coach Doc Rivers: ... via kwout If Ray can't go, that leaves Pietrus as the first wing off the bench.  Stiemsma will be ready...

Paul Pierce Talking Retirement, Decision Should Ultimately Come Down to What He Wants Out of Final Years

Paul Pierce has been talking about retirement lately. It is only natural that a 15-year veteran, entering the final year of his contract with the only team he has ever played for, might be thinking about hanging up his shorts. Aren't we all supposed to begin planning for retirement from the moment we get our first job? Pierce may simply be planning ahead. Pierce certainly does...

Paul Pierce still contemplating retirement after this season

The thought of Paul Pierce leaving basketball after this season — a productive one by any measure — provides yours truly with a headache that feels like Jonathan Papelbon riverdanced on my temples, and eyes that resemble Niagara Falls. But Pierce recently, for the second time this season, called retirement an option when this season concludes. (ESPN Boston)“It’s crossed...

Celtics 87, Bucks 74

Paul Pierce scored all 12 of his points in the first half despite missing most of it with a sprained toe and Rajon Rondo had 15 assists as the Boston Celtics closed the regular season with an 87-74 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night. Avery Bradley added 14 points for the Celtics, who were nearly back at full strength in their final tuneup before opening the playoffs...

Rajon Rondo Ejected at Terrible Time for Celtics, As Point Guard Is One Player Team Cannot Replace

Paul Pierce was not talking about Rajon Rondo, but he could have been. "It was a very physical game, both teams scrapping, playing real hard," Pierce said after the Celtics dropped Game 1 of their Eastern Conference playoff series to the Hawks 83-74. "We just lost our composure a little bit, but that's how the playoffs are. You're on the road. You can't...

Celtics close out season with 87-74 victory over the Bucks

This game went exactly as planned for Doc.  The Hall of Famers started this game but with a large lead, were able to get plenty of rest.  The Celtics beat the Milwaukee Bucks with a score of 87-74. All wasn't good news as Paul Pierce only played 6 minutes after injuring his big toe on his left foot.  Yes, I laughed as I read that sentence too.  The Celtics didn't play...

Celtics Practice Notes Before Playoff Series Versus Atlanta

All about banner 18 in one last run with the Big 3 --- errr, I mean big 4 The chase to banner number 18 will begin Sunday in Atlanta.  Before leaving, the Celtics held a practice on Friday afternoon with near perfect attendance heading into the playoffs. Ray Allen, still hobbled by his sore right ankle, did some light shooting before practice and some free-throw shooting at the...

Rondo faces suspension as Celtics lose game one in Atlanta, 83-74

The Celtics tried climbing out of a hole throughout this hole game. They played without energy and were flat in their shooting.  This allowed Atlanta to cruise to a game one victory, 83-74.  Remembering all of this before the soon to be infamous call is important because the Celtics played awful in this game and deserved to lose. Continuing on how poorly the Celtics played before...

Scouting the Series: Celtics' Creativity, Execution Should Carry Them Over Hawks in First Round of Playoffs

The Celtics will open the playoffs on the road when they take on the Atlanta Hawks in Game 1 on Sunday. Here is a look at how the teams stack up based on my observations, with input from an NBA personnel scout. Who the Celtics Are Chances are you have a pretty good idea of the Celtics' identity by now. The Celtics are known to be precise, if deliberate, in executing on offense...

Rondo suspended for Game 2

Not shocked, at all. Rondo bumped an official and you can’t do that. Frankly, I’m not all that discouraged about Game 2 because of this. Rondo wasn’t the reason we nearly came close to stealing that game on Sunday night. It was simply the fact the Celtics played with greater defensive intensity after the first quarter. The Celtics lost because the Hawks were lights out in...
