Celtics forward Paul Pierce was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week by the NBA for games played Monday, January 30th - Sunday, February 5th. During this period, Pierce helped the Celtics go 4-0, and averaged 22 points, 6.3 assists, and 5.8 rebounds. Pierce is currently 10 points shy of passing Larry Bird on the Celtics' all-time scoring list. Pierce's game stats for the week, from NBA.com: Jan. 31 @ Cleveland: Recorded 20 points, six assists and three steals in a 93-90 win over the Cavaliers. Feb. 1 vs. Toronto: Tallied 17 points, eight assists and six rebounds in 26 minutes in a 100-64 victory over the Raptors. Feb. 5 vs. Memphis: Closed the week with 21 points, six rebounds and six assists during a 98-80 victory over the Grizzlies.

Paul Pierce passed Larry Bird for No. 2 on the Celtics' career scoring list, finishing with 15 points as the host Celtics increased their winning streak to five straight. Pierce needed nine points to tie Bird's total of 21,791. He had seven points at halftime, then hit a three-pointer with 10:23 left in the third quarter to pass Bird.
