When stumbling upon this photo today, it immediately invoked feeling for me that had been reserved for one man;  a basketball legend that wore green, two decades earlier. A similar photo of Larry Bird was published in late 1989 to dawn the cover of Sports Illustrated. This photo was to commemorate the Legend’s return to basketball from season-ending injury. [...]

Celtics Injury News: Paul Pierce, Brandon Bass
The Boston Celtics have a new look to them. Â Sure, there are some familiar faces, but this is not the team with the original big three - the big three that started the trend of players joining up in hopes of winning a championship. Â This is a team minus Ray Allen, a key part of the championship the Celtics did win in 2008. Â Here's an update on some key players on the current...
Pierce serves Nets reality check
That beautiful new Brooklyn arena and those slick black uniforms are getting the Nets plenty of attention.
The Boston Celtics sure noticed, and they delivered a reminder Thursday night that the road to the Atlantic Division title doesn't run through Atlantic Avenue just yet.
Paul Pierce scored 18 points despite briefly leaving with an ankle injury, and the Celtics spoiled the...
Pierce, Garnett, and Darko out tonight, Barbosa might play Sunday vs. the 76ers
According to CSNNE's Sherrod Blakely, Leandro Barbosa has arrived in Boston. He has selected #12 to wear on his jersey, and there is a chance he might play Sunday against Philadelphia (but not tonight against the Knicks):
#Celticstalk: Barbosa is inBoston. #Celtics Doc Rivers said there is a chance he might play Sunday vs. #Sixers.

Celtics 115, Nets 85
Paul Pierce scored 18 points despite briefly leaving with an ankle injury, and the Boston Celtics spoiled the Brooklyn Nets' return to national TV with a 115-85 exhibition victory Thursday night.
Courtney Lee also had 18 for the Celtics in a rematch of the Nets' 97-96 victory in Boston two nights earlier. The Nets rallied to pull that one out even while resting their starters...
Several Boston Celtics regulars to sit tonight, including Kevin Garnett, Brandon Bass and Paul Pierce
#Celticstalk: No Pierce, KG, Bass or Darko tonight for the #Celtics.24 minutes ago via TweetDeckReplyRetweetFavorite@SherrodbCSNA. Sherrod BlakelyBass suffered a bruised knee Thursday night and Pierce twisted his ankle, but neither injuries are expected to be serious.I kinda wish Doc would play the regulars both tonight and tomorrow. I know the Celtics looked good (check that â€...
It's a Fast Break!
What I have enjoyed the most this preseason is watching the Celtics fast breaks. For the first time, Rondo has multiple options on the break instead of getting the ball up court quickly and then having to dribble around while he waits for the rest of the team to get in place. The play above has Paul Pierce running ahead and getting the hoop. More than likely, he won't be...
Celtics Live Blog: Rajon Rondo, C's Make First Visit to Brooklyn to Take on Nets
9 a.m. ET: Paul Pierce could not have looked much sharper than he did Tuesday, when the Celtics forward scored 29 points in a one-point loss to the Nets. Those same Nets host
Pierce and the Celtics on Thursday at the newly minted Barclays Center.
This is the sixth of eight preseason games for the Celtics, who are still a long way from knowing exactly what starting lineup and rotation...

Comments From the Other Side - Nets 10/18
Nets fans sound a bit different than they did after their team blew out the Celtics. Lots of hate for Deron Williams. When fans are longing to have Gerald Green back, you know there are problems. Of course there are the wheelchair comments after Pierce came up limping after he was shoved into the photographers by Joe Johnson. Funny, he didn't seem to have that mean streak...

Celtics Get Payback Win over Knicks 109-98
We got a look at the future tonight and it was fun. Doc sat KG, Pierce to rest them since they have another game tomorrow night and the young guys got a lot of run in this game.
Doc started Rondo, Lee, Green, Sully and Collins with Melo, Terry, Kurz, Downs, and Joseph playing off the bench. The Knicks also sat their stars with Melo, Amare and Chandler all sitting this one out...
Recap: Celtics remind Nets that they’re still the Nets
The Brooklyn Nets wanted this game. We knew that when Avery Johnson rested his starters on Tuesday night. The new look Nets were on national television in their new arena against the Celtics.
How did Brooklyn respond? They got steamrolled.
The Celtics were aggressive on both ends of the floor and dominated this game from start to finish. The final was 115-85.
Doc Rivers trotted out...

Doc still "Disappointed" by Ray Allen's departure
From today's Boston Herald:
“I’ll always be disappointed with that because of the way it went down. But it is what it is, so I’m over it, but, you know, you’re always disappointed about stuff."
Coach Rivers goes on to say:
"But as far as our team, I moved on the next day. We were trying to build our team. We already had Jason Terry; we knew that. So my next...
