PLAYERS: Paul Pierce
TEAMS: Boston Celtics
We recently learned that Paul Pierce is playing through neck pain, but no one realized how bad it was until today. “I probably won’t be fully recovered from it until the season is over, if I ever do,” Pierce said. “I probably have a little bit of nerve damage in my back, part of my neck. It’s something that I’ve been playing through over the last several months. I’m about as healthy as I’m probably going to be in the regular season right now.” Pierce had that issue with stingers a couple of years ago, and it looks like that problem is back… or at least something similar.  If there’s nothing he can do about it… then all he can do is gut it out and deal with it. That type of injury isn’t comfortable at all, and I’m sure it’s at least a contributing factor to some of his struggles, especially if he gets hit during a shooting motion.  Pierce is a durable guy, though, rarely missing any time over the course of his career due to injury (knock on wood) so he’ll just push through.

Photo Gallery: Paul Pierce’s “Black History Month” Legacy 3′s

I occasionally get questions on Twitter about what sneakers players are wearing during games.  But no sneaker this season has gotten more “what ARE those?” than the kicks Paul Pierce has busted out the past few games. Pierce is still wearing his usual Nike Legacy 3′s… but he’s wearing a special “Black History Month” colorway that features a distinctive pattern and...

Still Can’t Handle the Truth

Washed up. Over the hill. On the decline. Those are just a few of the adjectives used to describe Boston Celtics’ captain Paul Pierce these days. But while the 14-year veteran might just laugh them off as nonsensical banter, his stat line suggests otherwise. Through 57 games for the Celtics, Pierce is averaging 18.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists in over 33.9 minutes per...

Recap: Pierce, Green help Celtics smother Warriors

Thanks to some aggressive defense by Avery Bradley and some creative defensive zones, the Celtics put the clamps on Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors tonight.  Boston held Curry to 6-22 FGs and the Warriors to just 34% shooting for the game.
