Celtics Green ...a boston celtics blog.:
Serves hot dogs and leads the teamall in the same night
The Celtics have finally put together a performance they can be proud of and against a worthy opponent too. The team has been struggling mightily and the players haven't been putting forth a consistent effort but the energy from Garnett inspired a monster performance. The initial quarter looked bleak and the Celtics seemed to be playing like nothings changed but that completely changed at the start of the second. Courtney Lee put forth one of his pest games as a member of the team while Sully was a beast on the boards. Theres still a lot of skepticism needed when discussing the team but there were some positives.
Garnett was a huge factor in the game tonight whether it was with his scoring or just pure adrenaline that seemed to motivate the team. He's been one of the few consistent players that has been consistent with his effort and has repeatedly dipped into the fountain of youth to put out some great games. He's one of the few Celtics this season that can be 1-10 but has an emotional impact on the outcome.
Lee was a aggressive with his shot and the team finally seemed to look for him after he hit a couple shots. Though I'd still be careful in saying he's turned the corner he's definitely shown strides since the beginning of the season. If he can show improvement in his three point shot then he can be a huge help in spreading the court.
Some life from Rondo defending Paul George
Paul Pierce had a good all around game as he produced 6 assists 5 rebounds and 13 points while playing solid defense against Paul George. Though his scoring has been on a roller coaster ride his leadership has been evident throughout the year. He constantly has uplifted fellow players and shown little panic in the teams ability to overcome this adversity.
Sullinger has again shown why he deserves to get significant time because of his work ethic and hard work. He rebounds with a passion and goes after the ball no matter his deficiencies physically. Games like this give hope for the Celtics future because between him Rondo and Bradley were going to have a hardworking team that hustles and plays Celtics ball.
The score might steer people into thinking blowout but theres a lot of improvement the team can do. Jeff Green put together another forgettable game being a non factor like what seems to be a usual thing. Bass could grab some more rebounds but the eight he pulled down were helpful. With Bass it't not necessarily the rebounds he does grab as much as the critical ones he misses. His jumper hasn't been around but maybe like Lee's we'll see some improvement coexisting with the team's improving record. This is a step forward for the team but it's a long season and we've seen a lot of inconsistent play but this is a great way to start off a run.

Jared Sullinger is the 5th most efficient scorer after offensive rebounds in the NBA.We’ve discussed Boston’s apparent aversion to offensive rebounds before, but one Celtic has been productive on the offensive boards, and I’m guessing you don’t need me to tell you who that person is.In last night’s big win over the Pacers, Jared Sullinger grabbed four offensive rebounds...

It took Fab Melo a grand total of six months on an NBA roster to be featured in a Deadspin article for his stupidity. And it’s probably surprising to many that it didn’t happen sooner.
When the news first came out that Syracuse’s former brilliant Brazilian was called up from the Celtics’ D-League team, it sounded encouraging. But it turns out Melo...
The Red Claws lost their second straight home game as they dropped this one to the Canton Charge 92-81. Center Fab Melo is still with the Celtics recovering from the concussion. Fellow Celtic Kris Joseph once again came off the bench to play 25 minutes and add 14 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block.
DaJuan Summers led the Red Claws with 23 points, 12 rebounds...
Celtics rookie Fab Melo suffered a concussion last weekend after bumping his head on the doorway in his Sioux Falls hotel room while the Maine Red Claws (Melo’s NBA Development League assignment) were in South Dakota for back-to-back games against the Skyforce.
Melo was seen by the Red Claws medical staff and did not play in the team’s Monday afternoon game. On Wednesday, the...
When a team is struggling, it's only natural for its fans to demand trades. That I'm OK with. Now, since ESPN created Trade Machine, we've witnessed a myriad of stupid trades that would make sense for only one team that's involved, but you know what, that's OK too, because at least there was effort put in them to make the math work, because some people propose...
Something Mark pointed to in this post right here is how similar the Celtics record was to last year's. Really, it is strange how similar the two teams are, yet also how alarmingly different.
A lot of Celtics fans are kind of hanging their hat on the flip switching the Celtics did at the end of the season last year. It's not a bad argument. They've done it before, they...
The guys wore ties… Kurt compares the Celtics to communism… and Stats preaches patience in the latest episode of Gang Green TV. There’s also the requisite trade speculation, Avery Bradley discussion, and even a Star Wars mention.
Another great show from the guys…. and as an added bonus, here’s the show you didn’t see from before Christmas because… well… I’m the...
At first glance, this video is really nothing to get all that excited about. The Boston Celtics are leading the game by fifteen points. A ball is flying out of bounds and Kevin Garnett in all his KG-ness decides to give a little bit extra effort to save the ball, although an argument can be made that this is the best part of the video because he’s about 67.5 years old and he is...
Fab Melo is a huge prospect, with raw talent. Celtics had him doing development with the Red Claws. But earlier this week Melo suffered a concussion….walking into a doorway.
Yup. Walked in a doorway in his hotel room down in South Dakota.
“I still have a little headache. Sometimes I can’t really focus on something for a long time, that’s it.” – Fab Melo
After every game, we’ll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player’s overall value.
Offense: Defense: Overall:
Rondo off the ball is a menace. If this was football, we say he’s a great free safety but a bad cornerback. With Bradley in the game, Rondo can roam into passing lanes and sneak up on players on the post...
The change is not lost on seventh-year Celtic Rajon Rondo.
“We’re not playing it (defense),” the point guard said following the Celtics loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday. “I don’t know (why). We’ve just got to try to take it one step at a time. It starts with me so I’ve just got to hold myself more accountable.”
“Just our trust, our trust isn’t there...
ATLANTA (AP) -- Rajon Rondo had 14 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, and the Boston Celtics rallied to beat the Atlanta Hawks 89-81 on Saturday night.
Paul Pierce scored 17 of his 26 points in the third quarter as the Celtics erased a 19-point deficit and went on to consecutive wins for the first time since late November against Oklahoma City and Orlando.
Boston, which beat Indiana...
Celtics broke-out of their slump last night at TD Garden with a 94-75 win over the Indiana Pacers. They are now in Atlanta on the tail end of their back-to-back to face the Hawks. Tip-off tonight is at 7pm EST.
No word from the league office yet on whether or not KG will face any penalties after last night’s flagrant 2 foul. Check out the GIF & let me know in the comments what...
The Boston Celtics have gained a reputation as a very good defensive team the last few years, but that wasn't the case at all during a recent four-game skid.
While they returned to form for at least one night, they will need more consistency to get back on track after sliding below .500.
Boston will also try to snap a three-game road losing streak when it faces the Atlanta...
ATLANTA -- Down 53-38 to the Atlanta Hawks at halftime, the Boston Celtics were snapping at each other and at coach Doc Rivers. Paul Pierce had had enough. "Don't get mad at Doc. He's coaching," Pierces said. "We've got to get mad at this other team. "I just said we wanted to bring the fight to them. We were kind of bickering at each other a little...
