The news seems to be getting better on the injury front for the Celtics. The return of Jermaine O'Neal means that the Celtics are no longer required to go to their small lineup whenever Kevin Garnett needs a rest and that Brandon Bass can return to his role as the spark plug off the bench.

Also according to Blakely, Doc Rivers believes that Rondo "may play tomorrow (versus Toronto), but [he would] say closer to Friday would be the target date."

Paul Pierce calling out Doc Rivers?

Things are rough all over for the Celtics and now their star is indicating he may not be happy with the playing time that his coach is giving him.

Doc Rivers: JaJuan Johnson ‘will play … sooner than later’

His defense has always set him apart, but this year it’s different. JaJuan Johnson was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2011 — the best defender in the NCAA conference most known for its defense — but he advanced to NBA training camp and it sometimes felt like he was standing in the middle of the road as trucks came blasting through. Some opponents powered through...

Are the Celtics Better Without Rajon Rondo?

For a while there, it seemed like the Celtics didn't miss Rajon Rondo at all. With the Celtics point guard sidelines with a sore right wrist, the Celtics won four straight games and edged their record back to .500. They enter Wednesday's game against the Raptors with a 5-2 mark in Rondo's absence. Results aside, it is hard to argue that the Celtics are better off without...

Celtics G Rondo still out with wrist injury

Celtics All-Star guard Rajon Rondo will miss his seventh straight game with an injured right wrist. Boston coach Doc Rivers said at the team's morning shootaround that Rondo will not play Tuesday night against the Cavaliers but could return to the lineup later this week. Rondo is traveling with the team. Boston hosts Toronto on Wednesday. The Celtics have gone 4-2 without Rondo...

Rajon Rondo ‘would probably be playing’ if it were playoffs, says Danny Ainge

Even if Danny Ainge said I am a Celtics blogger, I would not trust him. If he told me I am a 24-year old male (which I am), I would not trust him. And if he described a Boston Celtics injury, I would take his words, delete them from my memory, chuckle that he expected anyone might believe them, and shake my head while remembering Shaq, who was said to return “next week” for...

Rajon Rondo Can't Return Quickly Enough for Celtics, Who Are Starting to Feel Point Guard's Absence

Tune out all the noise. Stop wondering about about whether Chris Kaman will give the Celtics some depth in the post or whether Paul Pierce should ever leave the court in crunch time. There's one major issue for the Celtics, and it's the obvious one. The more games Rajon Rondo spends on the sideline in his dapper suits with an injured right wrist, the harder it will gradually...

Paul Pierce calls out Doc Rivers about playing time

Recently the Boston Celtics loss to the Cleveland Cavilers 88-87 and one of the Celtics big three was not happy with head coach Doc Rivers. Making this loss even more hard to swallow was that the Celtics had a 11 point lead with 5 minutes left in the game. Celtics star Paul Pierce was unhappy with Rivers for his playing time in the 4th quarter in the Celtics loss to...

Ray Allen expected to play, Rajon Rondo out against Cavs

According to multiple sources at the TD Garden, including CLNS Radio’s Jared Weiss,, Ray Allen is expected to make his return from an ankle injury tonight at the TD Garden. Allen has missed the last three games after going down with the injury on January 22nd against the Washington Wizards. As expected, it is also [...]

Doc Rivers: Anderson Varejao is an All-Star

[Anderson] Varejao’s energy is just amazing. It’s amazing to watch him run around relentlessly, and pursue [loose] balls…Varejao’s always an All-Star as far as I’m concerned. I think they should keep a spot for a role player. That’s what he does, he plays his role…He had 20 points and they didn’t run one [offensive] set for him…Down the stretch, he and Kyrie [Irving...

Celtics lacked a finishing act

Celtics coach Doc Rivers has often told his team that, if they have the lead in the final minutes, they should be able to win without scoring another point.

Comments From the Other Side - Cavs 1/31

We almost had another big lead lost loss, but thankfully the Celtics pulled it out this time. The Cavs fans aren't a very chatty bunch compared to others and I think criticize their own players as much as they do the other team but they definitely don't like the Celtics. They are even willing to derail their tanking to beat them.  I'd love to have Varejao. though, he...

Celtics Live Blog: C's Hoping to Rely on Depth With Last-Place Raptors in Town

8 a.m.: After sweeping three games last week against two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, the Celtics are in the midst of slate that is much less formidable. Two consecutive games against the Cavaliers did not garner the two victories the Celtics hoped for, though, and they'll take another crack at a mediocre squad when the Raptors visit the TD Garden on Wednesday...
