Many Celtics fans were relieved Thursday at 3 p.m. when the NBA trade window closed and Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett had not been dealt away. Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge, in a rare move, decided to play his current hand rather than trading key pieces for the promise of youth, a future or salary cap space. It hasn’t always been so, though, and the thought of losing Garnett and Pierce had many people thinking back to the last time Ainge pulled the trigger in a big way. In 2011, Ainge dealt Kendrick Perkins to the Oklahoma City Thunder in a deal that brought Jeff Green to Boston. It was a sensible trade, considering Perkins’ injury history and that the Celtics would have been unlikely to retain him and the contract he commanded. But sensible still doesn’t help Boston fans who know that the C’s haven’t been able to break through in the Finals since Perkins left, and that the Celtics’ biggest need continues to be the lack of a big man. Rajon Rondo has commente...

Celtics Rumors: Rajon Rondo available

Despite the injury, the Boston Celtics have made Rajon Rondo available for trade.  However, a deal is unlikely.  If the team were to get anything done, it would probably have to be after the season.  Right now, Rondo is rehabbing from a torn ACL. According to ESPN Boston, if the Celtics received an offer for Rondo, they would not immediately turn it down.  It's not beyond...

Celtics GM Informs Rondo He Won’t Be Traded

While ESPN’s Chris Broussard reported that Rival GM’s insist Rondo is available, Celtics GM Danny Ainge reportedly informed Rondo’s agent Wednesday that the injured point guard will not be dealt before Thursday’s trade deadline. According to Jeff Zillgitt, USA TODAY Sports: Yet according to Rondo’s agent, Bill Duffy, Ainge said on Wednesday that Rondo will not be traded...

Report: C’s want the world in a Rondo trade

There isn’t a single Celtic that hasn’t been mentioned in some trade rumor somewhere.  Yesterday, Chris Broussard threw an “update” out there that Danny would move Rondo in the “right deal.” Anyone that knows this team, even a little bit, knows Danny Ainge will listen to any offer and move on something that he feels makes sense for the team.  Apparently, what makes...

Rondo's agent assured Rondo will not be traded

Agent for Rajon Rondo, Bill Duffy, tells USAT that Boston GM Danny Ainge assured him today the Celtics PG won't be traded. Story to come. — Sam Amick (@sam_amick) February 20, 2013 Another update in a crazy time before the trade deadline, this new information seems to be pretty plausible. Rondo is currently out with a season-ending injury, so his value would not be very high...

Rondo Assured By Celtics He Won't Be Dealt

Rajon Rondo has been linked to a possible trade in several reports.

Report: D.J. White in Celtics’ Sights for 10-Day Contract to Fortify Slim Roster

The Boston Celtics currently sit with a roster of 13 bodies, but two — Rajon Rondo and Jared Sullinger — will miss the rest of the 2013 season. The Celtics may be looking to add a big man to their core, and one name that has popped up is DJ White. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Boston Celtics will look to sign the former Charlotte Bobcat to a 10-day contract. Hearing that...

Ainge is pissed at opposing GM's with loose lips

Boston Herald: But the Celtics leader was upset that the allegedly private conversations had been revealed. “Hogwash,” was his initial response. “You know what? I don’t comment on any trade rumors at all. It doesn’t do me any good to make any comments at all.” Reminded that each report had come in perspective, with the Celts asking more than a Rondo’s ransom, Ainge...

Afternoon Delight: Immediate Opening

The trade deadline netted Jordan Crawford for the C's - who should add depth to the 1 and 2 voids created by the injuries to Rajon Rondo and Leandro Barbosa (now with the Wiz).  But many feel the Celts came up short at the deadline in trying to plug their hole(s) at the 5 - and most certainly adding a "big" would now be Boston's primary goal. The expected route...

Rondo Available In Trade Talks

Danny Ainge has discussed Rajon Rondo in trade talks in the past.

Celtics Lose Badly On The Eve Of The NBA Trade Deadline

Lakers 113, Celtics 99 After a day filled with speculation on whether the Celtics would move any key players, during a week where the NBA rumor mill was mired with alleged offers for Pierce, Garnett, or Rondo, the players that took the court on Wednesday seemingly forgot to put everything out of their mind and play basketball. At first the rumor that Pierce may be traded to the Nets...

A Thin Line Between Loyalty and Success

Comcast SportsNet New England’s Jessica Camerato put it bluntly: Whether it’s about KG, Rondo or Fab, no trade rumor should come as surprise. Basketball is a business. Execs have to explore any/all options. It’s something Boston Celtics fans should keep in mind as we close within 24 hours of Thursday’s 3 p.m. ET trade deadline. Over this past week, Danny Ainge has been one...

Jeff Green Helps Celtics Work Past Injuries to Rajon Rondo, Jared Sullinger, Leandro Barbosa

The Boston Celtics have thrived amid adversity this season, relying on the one-two punch of veterans Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to beat the prevailing NBA odds and prove that their window of opportunity for another championship hasn’t closed just yet. But they haven’t been doing it alone — 26-year-old Jeff Green has been a big part of their success lately. While season-ending...

Breaking down the NBA Trade Deadline Deals

The 2013 NBA trade deadline has come and gone without a lot of movement.  Guys like Josh Smith, Paul Pierce, Dwight Howard and Rajon Rondo have had their names thrown around in different scenarios stayed put.  It was probably disappointing for quite a few fans who thought their team might change for better or worse.
