Jim Racalto Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo has a mysterious persona. We don’t really know much about him or his personal life. What we do know is that on the basketball court, he is like a heat-seeking missile, able to throw an array of pinpoint passes that get his teammates easy buckets. Thanks to a revealing interview from Lee Jenkins of Sports Illustrated , we now know that on the court isn’t the only place Rondo is a cerebral assassin. Dating back to his childhood, it’s reported that he is undefeated in the popular kids game Connect Four.
Via Sports Illustrated:
Rondo would set up a Connect Four grid on the front porch and play deep into the night, welcoming friends and family members to his stoop, and then dispatching them all. “He beat everybody,” says his mom, Amber Rondo. The boy possessed an unearthly ability to see the entire board and think three moves ahead.
Hahaha. (Credit: blogs.thescore.com)
But Rondo’s affinity for Connect Four didn’t stop as a kid, because playing the game with whoever dares to challenge him is apparently his go to move at charity events. More from Sports Illustrated:
So at charity functions he perched behind a folding table…he just played Connect Four, against anybody who dared, usually two grids at a time and sometimes three. “This has been going on for six years,” Matt Meyersohn, the Celtics’ director of community relations, said on Dec. 22 during an event at the Blue Hill Boys & Girls Club in Dorchester, Mass. “He’s played hundreds of Connect Four games, maybe a thousand. And he’s never lost.”
So there you have it, folks. Rajon Rondo has never lost in Connect Four. This doesn’t surprise me, as he is a master technician in the highest level of basketball. How hard can Connect Four be if you’re Rajon Rondo? I think the best part is he doesn’t let kids win so he can keep his winning streak intact.

The Boston Celtics have retired more jersey numbers than any other professional sports team in the USA with a count of 21. And according to co-owner Wyc Grousbeck, it looks like both #34 and #5 will be added to the rafters when Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett retire in the near future.

“We’re going to retire...
Former Louisville star Terrence Williams is in day six of his 10-day contract with the Boston Celtics. This could have been a good win for the Celtics had a couple shots fallen their way late in the fourth quarter but the ball just didn't bounce their way tonight. Wesley Matthews was big all night and hit a barrage of shots from long range to keep the Celtics at bay all game. Tommy Heinsohn noted at halftime that this was a game he thought the Celtics would win claiming all the...
Celtics co-owner Wyc Grousbeck joined Mut and Merloni on WEEI 93.7 FM for an hour long interview this Tuesday. However, later he said...

Without him Friday, the Celtics pounded the Suns, 113-88, and Garnett said he joked to Rivers that if they were going to play like that, he’d sit out against Portland, too.

Blazers 92, Celtics 86
After blowing away the competition in Phoenix on Friday night, the Celtics (29-27) came crashing back to earth with a tough loss against the Blazers (26-30). Kevin Garnett returned after taking a game off to rest, and Paul Pierce played extremely well (23 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists), but the new-look C’s were unable to close it out against...
Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were not the only people who came away disgruntled after the Eastern Conference Finals last spring. Beer-drinkers could not have been happy, either, after taking a hit in the wallet whenever they wanted to get lubed up.
The Celtics have the second-most expensive beer prices in the NBA at $8 a cup, according to Business Insider, matching the Heat and...

Help is on the way for the Celtics, though it is not the earth-shattering kind that fans might hope for.
D.J. White, a 6-foot-9 forward who last played for the Bobcats in 2011-12, will sign with the Celtics “in the next 24 hours,” Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reports. The Celtics had agreed to a deal with White last week, but a delay in receiving his letter of clearance...

After losing 3 of 4 games out west after the All-Star break, Marc Stein has dropped the Celtics down to #13 is his ESPN weekly NBA power rankings, three spots below their #10 position last week.
Despite clearly being back on the Laker bandwagon (LA is #11 with a 28-29 record), I am actually very impressed with Stein's faith in the C's. He still has...
