Ray Allen Says Wizards’ Jan Vesely Doesn’t Know How to Play Basketball

Grumpy old man Ray Allen: take two. The Celtics are struggling. Their superstars are aging. They have won only seven games so far this season, and three of them have come against one of the worst teams in the NBA. No matter how much the team struggles, Allen has always been a veteran leader and rarely has anything negative to say. This season, he has flashed signs of frustration...

While Ray Allen's team was battling for a comeback win in Orlando, The Allen family was in a battle of its own. Early Thursday night, Shannon Allen gave birth to their fourth son, Wystan Ryan Allen, according to The Boston Globe's Gary Washburn. It is unknown whether Allen will be ready to go Friday night when the Celtics face off against the Indiana Pacers. Indiana is coming...

Ray Allen Left Off Team Flight Nursing Ankle-Wife Expecting Child

Ray Allen was left behind as the Celtics traveled to Orlando to face the Magic this Thursday as he continues to nurse his injured ankle. At the moment, with two days left until gameday, it is unclear as to whether the decision to leave Ray Allen behind was to allow Allen to receive more treatment, [...]

Celtics minus Allen and Rondo; 3 bench players

The Boston Celtics will be without starters Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo and three bench players, severely depleting their roster for Monday night's game against the Orlando Magic. Boston coach Doc Rivers delivered the news about an hour before the game. Allen jammed his left ankle in the second quarter of Sunday's win at Washington and didn't return. Starting point guard...

Celtics Live Blog: Ray Allen Stays Home While C's Travel to Orlando for Matchup With Magic

8:30 a.m.: Missing five players due to injuries didn't hurt the Celtics on Monday, when they trounced the Magic by 31 points on the TD Garden parquet. Playing the third game of a four-game, five-night stretch, the Magic might be expected to be a little sluggish. Then again, Dwight Howard and company will probably have extra motivation due to Monday's embarrassing display...

Shorthanded Boston Celtics Trick Orlando Magic, Win 87-56

Going into tonight’s game between the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic at the TD Garden, the odds were not in favor of the Celtics. The Magic came into the game with a record of 11-4, while the Celtics were at a disappointing 6-9. Add to that the news before the game that Ray Allen, Rajon [...]

Allen Says Vesely Doesn't Know How To Play

It’s been a tough year for the Boston Celtics. They’re sitting at 7-9 right now and with their aging superstars, there’s been a lot of talk about blowing up the whole team and starting over. Now they’re dealing with some injury problems as well. Point guard Rajon Rondo has missed the last three games with a sprained wrist, and guard Ray Allen is nursing a jammed ankle. Allen...

Ray Allen not with the Celtics as they leave for Orlando

This shouldn't come as a huge surprise as the Celtics will make sure that Ray's as close to 100 percent as possible before bringing him back. We knew going into the season that, for the vast majority of the C's, it will take a little longer for them to recover from these types of bumps and bruises. In addition, A. Sherrod Blakely informed us that Ray and his...

The Celtics should Break up the Big 3 in Full

Right now the Boston Celtics sit at 8-9. That record as of now is good for second place in a ridiculously weak division led by the Philadelphia 76ers who have feasted on a weak schedule and have been thoroughly crushed by contenders. The Boston Celtics currently sit at 7th in the East and will still likely make the playoffs. The Big 3 experiment in Boston was a fun experiment –...

Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo won't play tonight; Pietrus returns to lineup

No Rajon Rondo means that Avery Bradley should get the start at point guard again tonight. Jameer Nelson is probably crying in his living room as we speak. Bradley better keep his head on a swivel for a rock solid screen from Dwight Howard if he decides to do the personal full-court press again.

End of an Era?

The Boston Celtics returned to their glory days right after trading for Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. Adding two future Hall of Famers to their in-house future Hall of Famer, Paul Pierce, helped them reach the Finals twice and win one championship. But in life all good things must come to an end and in sports that process is accelerated. Players leave to sign bigger contracts, retire...
