Bulls-noah-reacts-against
Key turnovers and shooting woes doom Boston as they lose their 2nd game in a row at home 100-99 to the Bulls. Joakim Noah’s steal with 0.09 left in the 4th led to a Kirk Heinrich 15-footer at the 0.02 mark which tied the game at 88. KG then missed a three-pointer (even though the game was tied) at the buzzer and we were headed to OT. The Celtics could only muster 1 field goal in the final 1:04 of the overtime, an missed yet another three-pointer that wasn’t needed as time expired to fall 100-99. Paul Pierce and KG both struggled to find an offensive rhythm, combining for a 10 of 33 night from the field. You’d have thought Boston would’ve tried to get something at the rim on both of their final possessions on a night were 60 FT’s were taken by the two teams. Sixty. The Green: Celtics hung with the Bulls on the glass all night. C’s had 42 rebounds to Chicago’s 43 Jared Sullinger was once again a force in the paint, grabbing 15 of those rebounds for Boston Rajon Rondo finished with a ...

Joakim Noah Gets Extended Time on Bench for Bulls

As the Chicago Bulls fought their way back then fell off last night, Joakim Noah was not on the court.  Coach Tom Thibodeau held Noah out of the game as toward the end of the Bulls loss to the Memphis Grizzlies for reasons unknown. Steve Aschburner of NBA.com points out Noah's extended absence and the cloud of mystery surrounding that absence.  Noah has been one of the best...

Joakim Noah whines about Kevin Garnett, again

After the game last night Joakim Noah (son of French professional tennis player Yannick Noah) was asked about playing defense against Kevin Garnett. Here's what Noah had to say: (I was) just playing defense. Just playing sound defense, just contesting his shots. He's a helluva competitor. He's always on some bulls---. Always on some bulls---. Just trying to throw elbows...

Joakim Noah Talks Up Kevin Garnett’s ‘Cheap Shots’ After Beating Celtics

On Friday night, after the Bulls beat the Celtics 100-99 in overtime, Joakim Noah said he didn’t want to talk too much, and especially not about Kevin Garnett, with whom Noah tangled again on Friday night and about whom Noah has had some pointed words in the past. So on Friday, Noah did not go as far as to say that Garnett was a dirty player, as he has alleged before. Instead,...

Your Morning Dump… Where the Celtics are back to playing mediocre basketball

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Pierce? He was a different story. You want someone to wear the goat horns in this one? He’s your guy. He was horrible all night from the floor (5-for-17), he was victimized like a callow rookie on arguably the...

Celtkicks: New Colorway of the Nike Air Legacy 3

Over the past 3 games, Paul Pierce has been wearing a new colorway of his signature shoe the Nike Air Legacy 3. This makeup of the AL3 features a Black tongue with a green and white upper. This is one of the best versions of the shoe to date.

5 Things Celtics must do to win tonight - Bulls 1/18

The Celtics, after their tough loss to the Hornets, will play the final game of their current home stand tonight against the Bulls. The Bulls currently sit at 22-15. Despite their loss to New Orleans, the Celtics have still looked good recently. With a 20-18 record, the Celtics are tied for seventh place in the conference with the Bucks. The Celtics could use a victory tonight to...

Celtics-Pistons Live: Paul Pierce Aims to Shoot C’s Out of Slump in Detroit

8 a.m. ET: Two straight losses have given the Celtics reason to worry, so it may help to get away for a while. A two-game road trip against teams mired near the bottom of the standings therefore could be the perfect antidote. Of course, an opponent that was overmatched on paper managed to halt the Celtics’ six-game winning streak, so the Pistons (14-25) should not be taken lightly...

NBA Admits Refs Made Wrong Call In Raptors/Bulls Game

With one second remaining in overtime of the Chicago Bulls-Toronto Raptors game on January 16, officials called a foul on Chicago’s Joakim Noah as Toronto’s Amir Johnson gathered the ball while driving to the basket. The officials ruled the foul was on the floor but upon review at the league office, the video replay confirmed that the foul should have been called a shooting foul...

The Best of Tommy - Bulls 1/18

As you might imagine with some of the bad calls last night, Tommy was fairly upset with the officiating. But then again, when I saw Marc Davis calling a Bulls game that we'd be in for a long night. We've know since that 2009 series that he and all of his family are Bulls fans. He's also given the Celtics fits ever since. Tommy's first tweet during the game was...

Kevin Garnett Feels Other Eastern Conference Players More Deserving of All-Star Game Start, Including Paul Pierce

BOSTON — After 17 seasons and 14 All-Star Games, Kevin Garnett probably would prefer to take the four-day vacation the majority of NBA players take in the middle of every season. He spent last season’s All-Star break as just that — a break — and came back rejuvenated for the Celtics’ second-half push. Garnett may have to cancel his mid-February vacation plans this year...

Bill Simmons: I’ve been waiting for Jeff Green to start dating Manti Te’o

Leave it to Bill Simmons to be one of the first sports analysts to break out a Manti Te’o fake girlfriend reference. Boston Celtics forward Jeff Green has been incredibly inconsistent this season. Every time he rips off a streak of games where he puts up 15-plus points and throws down a dunk like this, it seems like he comes back with three more where he is a complete non-factor...

Underrated Stat of the Night - Bulls 1/18

The Celtics have lost. This one really sucked. We had a lead with a few seconds left in both the fourth and in OT, yet we couldn't catch a break. Rondo played amazing: putting in 30 points, 2 rebounds, and 7 assists. Unfortunately, he fouled out mid-way through overtime. This one stings and I just want to move on, but I won't. Tonight's underrated stat of the night...

Your Morning Dump… Where Doc is still steaming about ‘Jump Ball Gate’

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Doc Rivers and his staff have three problems with the controversial jump ball call on Paul Pierce Friday night with nine seconds left in regulation, and the Celtics leading by two points in what evolved as an overtime...

Celtics-Bulls Live: Paul Pierce, C’s Shoot to Regain Winning Form Against Old Friends Tom Thibodeau, Nate Robinson

8 a.m. ET: Not having Derrick Rose has not turned out to be much of a problem for the Chicago Bulls. Then again, that should not be much of a surprise, given their leadership. Former Celtics assistant coach Tom Thibodeau is the head man in Chicago, of course, and under his direction the Bulls have not let the absence of the former NBA Most Valuable Player hold them back. The Bulls...
