If I told you during the first part of the season that there would be a game which the Celtics were lead to victory by Jeff Green and Shavlik Randolph, you may have just punched me in the teeth. I would have lost all credibility as a writer, and I’d have been blacklisted by the writing community to authoring only preschool level picture books. But that is exactly what happened tonight…yes, Celtics fans it is true; Shavlik Randolph and Jeff Green are your leaders of the night in a Celtics victory….. cue the “resign Shavlik” talk in  5…4….3….2….1…. The Green Shavlik Randolph-  Give the dude some props. He’s been awful in some games but he’s really found his niche on this team. He is their rebounder and enforcer in the paint. Tommy loves the kid because he never gives up an easy layup and that is mostly true. A few nice blocks , double digit rebounds with 7 of them coming on the offensive glass (something the Celtics have sorely lacked in recent years).  Fantastic night for a guy whos

Jeff Green hits game-winner, hugs surgeon

Jeff Green hit a buzzer beater in Cleveland on Wednesday night to lift the Celtics to a 93-92 win, and following the winner he hugged a man who saved his life a little over a year ago.  Dr. Lars Svensson was the recipient of a hug, and a well deserved one, as he performed open heart surgery on Jeff last year to mend an aortic aneurysm. Jeff Green spoke after the game to Boston.com...

Jeff Green’s Emergence Sparks Celtics

Entering this season many wondered about the role of Jeff Green! How would he play coming off of heart surgery! Would he get enough starts? Could he play at a high level? Would he fit in with the team? Was he worth that trade a few years ago? Well these past few weeks….Jeff Green seems to have answered all those questions with an exclamation point! First he scored a whopping 42...

Shavlik speaks, and wins our hearts all over again

Shavlik Randolph took a break from healing the blind and turning water into wine to join the NBA on NBC show with Hickman & Gilroy this morning. The resulting 12 minutes was the type of “aw shucks, I’m just doing my job” kind of humbleness that just makes you want to introduce him to your daughter. The best example is when he was asked about his personal journey.  We all...

Jeff Green's game winner Wednesday meant so much more

Jeff Green made an improbable layup as time expired Wednesday to give Boston a 93-92 win over Cleveland on the road. It was the kind of euphoric moment kids dream about and was certainly a big moment for Green, as it would any other player. His Celtics earned a key win late in the season with Playoff races tightening up and it was a great moment for a young player to have the...

Your Morning Dump… Where the C’s hope to have a green Easter Egg in Shavlik Randolph

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. But the idea that ShavlikRandolph would have such an impact seemed far-fetched last month when the 6-foot-10-inch forward joined the team after playing in China. After all, Randolph only became a Celtic to help...

Jeff Green Gaining Confidence

Celtics fans have been waiting on Jeff Green's breakout stretch, and we all thought it had started the night he tallied 43 points against the defending champs. Unfortunately, we were sorely mistaken as he followed up a career performance with a mediocre 13 point outing at New Orleans. After that match-up with the Hornets, Green eked out two 10 point nights in both Dallas and...

Jeff Green Hugs His Heart Doctor After Hitting Game Winning Shot

Next Impulse Sports: Jeff Green hit a buzzer beater in Cleveland on Wednesday night to lift the Celtics to a 93-92 win, and following the winner he hugged a man who saved his life a little over a year ago. Dr. Lars Svensson was the recipient of a hug, and a well deserved one, as he performed open heart surgery on Jeff last year to mend an aortic aneurysm. A.B. As Boston.com reported...

Jeff Green Hugged His Doctor After Hitting Game-Winner: I Think I Made Him Proud

Dr. Lars Svensson is the reason Jeff Green is still playing NBA basketball, the reason why Green was on the court to hit the game-winner to beat the Cavaliers on Wednesday night.  In December 2011, Dr. Svensson performed heart surgery in Cleveland on Green after he was found to have an aortic aneurysm – he missed the entire 2011-12 season. A season later, he’s one of the key...

Jeff Green breaks Cavs' hearts at buzzer, then hugs his heart surgeon

Call it heartbreaking, heartwarming or heart stopping but, any way you look at Jeff Green's last second buzzer-beater in Quicken Loans Arena, don't call it disheartening. Green's last second layup to give the Boston Celtics a 93-92 victory on the home floor of the Cleveland Cavaliers was all that more special to the Celtics player because the man responsible for Green...

Celtics’ Jeff Green’s Game-Winner Vs Cleveland (Video)

The Boston Celtics edged out the Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday night thanks to an amazing layup at the buzzer by Jeff Green.  With 2.1 seconds remaining, Jeff Green catches the inbounds pass and penetrates Cleveland’s lackluster defense and lays it in; watch the clock as the ball leaves his hand at .4 seconds remaining.  That’s an [...]The post Celtics’ Jeff Green’s Game...

Celtics Jeff Green Hits Game Winning Shot, Celebrates With Heart Surgeon (Video)

About 14 months ago, Celtics forward Jeff Green wasn’t sure he’d live, let alone play professional basketball again because of a rare heart condition. The Celtics played the Cavaliers in Cleveland last night, and for Green it was a semi-homecoming considering how much time he spent at the Cleveland Clinic. Last night Green hit a buzzer beating lay-up, to give the Celtics a 93...

Heart Surgery Jokes Are Hilarious, Just Ask Mike Felger

In a show much of which was spent lambasting the Bruins and GM Peter Chiarelli for not being able to close a deal, (that’s a whole other topic) Michael Felger decided he needed to poke the Celtics as well, specifically Jeff Green, who hit the game winning shot the night before. When anyone undergoes heart surgery, it’s a big deal. The issue Jeff Green (and Chris Wilcox) had last...

Celtics-Knicks Live: Jeff Green, Celts Look for Revenge Against Carmelo Anthony

8 a.m. ET: The last team to beat the Celtics prior to their current two-game win streak was the Knicks. Jeff Green and company have a chance to change that Sunday. In a special Easter edition of the NBA’s best traditional rivalry, the Celtics (38-34) and the Knicks (45-26) will face off at Madison Square Garden. This is the fourth and final meeting of the year between these teams...

Jason Terry, Shavlik Randolph Become Latest Celtics to Break Out at Opportune Time

BOSTON — Courtney Lee, limited to six minutes of playing time in his first game back from a sprained ankle, hopped up exuberantly. Chris Wilcox, mostly confined to the bench after starting the game at center, waved his towel enthusiastically. Rajon Rondo, back on the bench for the first time in two months, clapped in his sportcoat. All along the bench, the Celtics were having a...

Recap: Celtics - Hawks

I think it's safe to say that tonight was the best offensive performance for the Celtics in terms of both points scored and efficiency. In 48 minutes the Cs poured in 118 points and shot blistering percentages of 54 and 48% from the floor and downtown respectively. Unfortunately you can't say the same for their defense. The effort on that end of the floor was poor to say...
