With Fab Melo staying with the parent club and Kris Joseph released,   we haven't been paying as much attention to the Red Claws. but it's time to update on the news coming out of Maine. First up, Kris Joseph, who was released by the Celtics on January 6 ahead of the deadline for guaranteeing all contracts,  has returned to the Maine Red Claws on a D-League contract is expected to join the Red Claws in Springfield, MA as the team faces the Springfield Armor tomorrow night at 7:00 pm ET. Joseph had originally considered signing a contract in France but changed his mind because he felt that the D-League is the best way to get back to the NBA. I really liked what I was from Joseph. I think he has a big upside and hopefully he can continue to grow his game in Maine and maybe get another shot with the Celtics next season. Joseph appeared in 10 games on assignment with the Red Claws before he was released from the Celtics. He averaged 17.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game over the 10 games. To make room on the Red Claws' roster for Joseph, forward DaJuan Summers, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, has been moved to the Inactive List. The Red Claws announced that 4 Red Claws players have been selected to participate in the 2013 NBA Development League All-Star Game to be held at Sprint Arena at NBA All-Star Jam Session at Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center at 3 PM (ET) on Saturday, February 16. The 4 players chosen are: guard Shelvin Mack, forward DaJuan Summers, forward Chris Wright and guard/forward Micah Downs. Downs was one of the last cuts from the Celtics training camp roster and has been playing very well in Maine. Red Claws Head Coach Mike Taylor and his staff will coach the Futures Team at the 2013 NBA Development League All-Star Game when the Prospects and Futures teams take to the court at Sprint Arena on February 16. Taylor, along with assistant coaches Tunde Adekola and J.P. Clark, earned the trip to Houston by virtue of a 17-10 record and winning a head-to-head tiebreaker with the Canton Charge, who had the same record through games of Jan. 27, for the League’s second-best winning percentage.
