After weeks of non-stop rumors that Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge was actively shopping All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo and that the “ New Big Three” would be torn apart and sent to distance cities all over the Association’s map; when the smoke cleared as the NBA trading deadline took effect on March 15, the Celtics roster was still intact. At that point it looked like it was just going to be a classy way for Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce to end their time together; as most likely the team would not be bringing all three players back next year and stuck in the seventh slot in the NBA Eastern Conference; they were not expected to do too much damage in the Playoffs. That is if they were able to hold off the New York Knicks and the Milwaukee Bucks. Boston has rewarded Ainge and head coach Doc Rivers in their confidence in them as they have a record of 18-7 since the All-Star break and 10-5 after the NBA trading deadline went into effect. Aft...

Rajon Rondo Says He Is Still Fastest Player on Celtics, Faster Than Avery Bradley

Rajon Rondo wants to put one notion to bed. Avery Bradley is not faster than Rondo, despite what Kevin Garnett suggested two weeks ago. In a postgame interview on the Celtics radio network, Rondo cut in on a question about who was faster, responding, "Me!" before the questioner, Cedric Maxwell, could even finish his sentence. "Ain't no question," Rondo said...

Celtics Down Atlanta In OT Thriller 88-86

Rajon Rondo recorded his league leading sixth triple-double, scoring 10 points on just 3-16 from the field , grabbing 10 rebounds and 20 assists, which is his 19th consecutive game with at least 10 assists, as the Celtics held on for an 88-86 victory over the Atlanta Hawks Wednesday night at the TD Garden. Both [...]

Rajon Rondo Wills Celtics to Victory Over Hawks With Latest Stellar Performance

BOSTON -- To hear Rajon Rondo tell it, his latest remarkable all-around performance was like following a simple step-by-step process. 1. Pass to teammate. 2. Teammate hits shot. 3. Rondo gets an assist. 4. The crowd goes wild. "Putting the ball in the hole, pretty simple," Rondo said of extending his streak of double-digit assist games to 19 in the 88-86 overtime victory...

Celtics are finally getting some love on the NBA's website

For most of the season, it seemed like every time I went to NBA.com, the only time the Celtics got a lot of press was if there were trade rumors surrounding Rondo or the Big 3. Or when we were on a horrible losing streak. But it seems that those at NBA.com have finally taken notice of Boston's playoff chances after we have beaten their beloved Miami Heat 2 times in the past...

Celtics remain hot, defeat Hawks in overtime

Rondo continues to be the spark that makes the Boston Celtics go. After one of their most impressive wins on the season coming 24 hours earlier in Miami, no one was sure if the Boston Celtics would have enough gas in the tank to get past the Atlanta Hawks last night. However, led by Rajon Rondo the Celtics defeated the Hawks 88-86 in overtime to remain one of the hottest teams...

Your Morning Dump... Where people are starting to take notice

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. And now? Your Boston Celtics have cemented their hold as the leaders in the Atlantic Division with a thorough dismantling of the fading Philadelphia 76ers on Easter Sunday. If the Celtics close out their regular...

Rondo's 20 assists power Celtics to OT win

Paul Pierce overcame a miserable shooting game with a key jumper in overtime and Rajon Rondo finished with a triple-double with 20 assists, 10 points and 10 rebounds to lift the surging Boston Celtics to an 88-86 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night. Kevin Garnett had 22 points and grabbed 12 boards before fouling out with just under 3 minutes left in OT, and Brandon Bass...

Red's Army Rewind: Doc and Danny in a Reebok commercial

I was looking for something completely unrelated the other day when I found this gem of a video... Doc Rivers and Danny Ainge appearing in a Reebok pump commercial... along side Dominique Wilkins and Byron Scott.   The ending is great... with Doc saying "some people like BMW's, I like gym shoes."   Yeah, they used to be called gym shoes...

Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley Give Celtics Frontcourt Edge Over East Guards Not Named Derrick Rose

NESN.com Celtics reporter Ben Watanabe answered questions of all shapes and sizes from Celtics fans Tuesday. The questions ranged from potential playoff matchups, all the way to potential draft picks in 2022 (not a typo). With 10 games left in the regular season, the Celtics are gearing up for what they hope will be a deep playoff run. Check out the Twitter chat below to catch up...

Taking Stock: Celtics - Sixers

After every game, we'll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player's overall value. Starters  Rajon Rondo:  Another 15 assists.  And yes, he sometimes gets a little too casual out there.  I'll take the bad with the good as this guy continues to set up his teammates.  His assists led to 32 points, and he added another 7.  So he accounted...

Taking Stock: Celtics - Heat

After every game, we'll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player's overall value. Starters Rajon Rondo:  Rajon accouned for almost half the Celtics' offense by assisting on 36 points (six 3's, and nine 2's) and scoring another 18.  That's 54 of the Celtics' 115 points.  That's amazing.  He still has some lapses here...

Recap: C's gut out a win in overtime

You gotta hand it to the Celtics. They didn't mail in a game where a sloppy, uninspired loss would have been understandable.  They didn't quit when they lost a late lead. And they didn't give up when the referees all suffered simultaneous strokes in overtime and started calling some of the most absurd fouls (fouling out both KG and Stiemsma) we've seen in quite...

Tune into Sun Sports at 6:30 p.m. to watch the Miami Heat take on the Boston Celtics. NBA Heat territory. Much was made about the Boston Celtics' easy win over the Miami Heat just over a week ago.
