Rip Hamilton will soon be an unrestricted free agent as the Bulls will unsurprisingly waive the veteran shooting guard before his $5 million contract becomes guaranteed. As part of the buyout, the Bulls will owe Hamilton $1 million.
Hamilton, who was injury plagued and missed 70 of the 148 games while with Chicago, averaged 9.8 points per game off the bench last season and drifted out of the rotation by season’s end.
According to Ken Berger of CBS Sports:
Rip Hamilton will soon be a free agent as the Bulls will waive him rather than guarantee his $5 million salary for next season, source says. Hamilton will be waived before July 10, when his salary for ’13-’14 becomes fully guaranteed.
