See, who says Danny Ainge doesn't read CelticsLife? When rumors about Greg Oden's possible return to the NBA surfaced, I implored Ainge to take a look at the former Buckeye and Trailblazer (link). Why? Well under the simple premise that 25 year old 7 footers who have put up great rate stats and are willing to possibly accept the league minimum do not exactly grow on trees. Oden, who has undergone five knee surgeries since 2007, has been ramping up his workouts, and according to Ken Berger of CBSSports, the Celtics are taking a look. From Berger's article (link). Greg Oden, the No. 1 pick in 2007 who hasn't played in an NBA game since 2009 due to a litany of knee injuries, is aiming for a comeback. Part of Oden's plan is to sign with a team in the next month and get into a training and conditioning program with an eye toward returning to the floor next season. The Celtics are among the teams monitoring Oden's progress, and sources tell CBSSports.com's Jef...

Danny Ainge Says Leandro Barbosa Has ‘Never Asked Me for a Trade’

The news that Leandro Barbosa wasn’t loving the Celtics and was asking for a trade came out of the blue this week. Barbosa’s request — made in his native Portuguese before being picked up by various Boston media outlets — made it sound like he was unhappy with the team and didn’t like his amount of playing time. But Celtics fans prone to take this one personally should...

NBA Trade Rumors 2013: Leandro Barbosa has reportedly asked the Boston Celtics to trade or release him

Leandro Barbosa has asked Celtics GM Danny Ainge to either release or trade him, according to ESPN Brazil. You can follow the link for the whole interview but here’s the most relevant part (admittedly butchered by Google Translate but you get the gist):“I will not lie to you, I tried to get out several times, but Danny Ainge (general manager of the franchise) does not want to...

Your Morning Dump where Danny Ainge is too reactionary

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.  ”That doesn’t make a lot of sense to radically change the team when you’re trying to compete to win it all,” Ainge told Dickerson. “We have been and will continue to look to upgrade our team, but I think...

Video: Danny Ainge gives his thoughts on the Celtics 1st half of the season

After tonight's loss to the Hornets the Celtics record stands at 20-18. Danny Ainge spoke with CSNNE's Greg Dickerson prior to tonight's loss, when the Celtics were still glowing over their 6 game win streak. Ainge credits Avery Bradley's return justifiably for helping to turn around the season. The whole lengthy interview is worth a listen.

Danny Ainge Doesn’t Expect to Make Any Radical Changes to Celtics, But Still Looking to Upgrade Roster

If you’re waiting for the Celtics to pull the trigger on a big deal, you might be waiting a while. Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said during an interview with CSNNE that he doesn’t foresee making any major changes to the C’s, who have suddenly won six in a row and are looking more and more like the contenders most fans expected them to be. “That doesn’t...

Danny Ainge Says Celtics Have Interest In Greg Oden, Monitoring Situation

Man it pays to be 7 feet tall and play basketball.  No matter what your production or injury history is, if you have any semblance of ability to play, people are going to show interest in your skills. Celtics president Danny Ainge was on Boston radio station WEEI Thursday, and according to ESPN Boston, confirmed that the teams has some interest in oft injured center Greg Oden, and...

Ainge: 'I don't see a need to bring someone else in at the moment'

Trade rumors have been flying around the Celtics for weeks, from DeMarcus Cousins, to Tyreke Evans, to Rudy Gay. But they've quieted as the team has ripped off six straight wins, four of them against quality Eastern Conference competition. Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe caught up with Celtics boss Danny Ainge to discuss the state of the team, and Ainge was pretty direct when...

Ainge Denies Report Of Barbosa Trade Request

Danny Ainge denied that Leandro Barbosa asked for a trade from the Boston Celtics.

Leandro Barbosa has apparently asked for his release

Leandro Barbosa was a last-minute signing, joining the team after they already had a full stable of guards. Predictably, Barbosa has been relegated to mostly a bench role, which, despite the glut of guards on the roster, he didn’t quite see coming and apparently has made him unhappy. This comes from ESPN Brazil.  For those of you Portuguese speakers, Barbosa says “Não vou...

Celtics’ Leandro Barbosa Requests Trade

According to ESPN.com.br, translation via Celtics Blog: “I will not lie to you, I tried to get out several times, but Danny Ainge (general manager of the franchise) does not want to let me go. He’s a guy that comes admiring my basketball for many years. I was supposed to have got a good contract with the Boston Celtics, but did not. He will not let me go so no, “said the Brazilian...

Celtics Looking At Greg Oden?

Greg Oden recently made news with plans to play at some point in the somewhat near future, whether it is this season or next. For a guy who hasn’t been able to stay on the floor his entire career, this certainly needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Initially, the Miami Heat were the first to be rumored to have interest in Oden. Now it appears that the Boston Celtics are monitoring...

Boston Celtics and Danny Ainge ‘Monitoring’ Greg Oden

There has become a possibility that the Boston Celtics may take a shot at the No.1 overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. Photo by Getty Images According to Celtics general manager Danny Ainge on WEEI, Boston is keeping an eye on Greg Oden in hope of a possible signing. Currently, Doc Rivers’ team is ranked 30th in NBA rebounding with 38.7 boards per game. Kevin Garnett, Brandon...

Leandro Barbosa wants out of Boston

This quote is from an ESPN-Brazil story in Portuguese translated to English: Hastily hired by the Boston Celtics, Leandro Barbosa not living its best moment in the NBA. The Brazilian is averaging just 4.9 points and 10.7 minutes per game - both the lowest marks of his career 9 years in the NBA. In an interview with radio "Bradesco Sports FM," Barbosa revealed that he...

Boston Celtics may trade Leandro Barbosa, but is that a good idea?

In case you missed Jordan’s post earlier, our bros over at SB Nation’s CelticsBlog unearthed this in an article about Leandro Barbosa from ESPN Brazil: Apparently Barbosa is (has?) requesting (requested?) a trade and isn’t especially happy with Danny Ainge for not allowing it to happen. Danny Ainge denies having fielded such a request and Barbosa denies ever having made it...

Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge confirmed Thursday during his weekly appearance on Boston sports radio WEEI that the team is “monitoring” former Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden, but haven’t made an attempt to sign the 7-footer. “I don’t think (he’d be ready to play this year),” Ainge said. “I don’t know any of that for sure,...
