Derrick Rose went out during the third quarter of the Chicago Bulls-Portland Trail Blazers game on Friday night with a right knee injury. With all of the bad luck they’ve had in the last couple seasons, the Bulls fear that MRI results will indicate a right ACL tear. WGN Radio’s Jordan Bernfield gave the update: Good source tells me #Bulls fear it’s a torn right ACL for Derrick Rose. If so, unlikely he will ever be the same. — Jordan Bernfield (@JordanBernfield) November 23, 2013 Source: #Bulls Rose cannot put any weight on the knee, and may fly back to Chicago for the MRI. “Fearing the worst.” — Jordan Bernfield (@JordanBernfield) November 23, 2013 Rose was show leaving the on crutches. My heart breaks seeing this. Derrick Rose on crutches. (Photo) pic.twitter.com/zBWaDR4dVv — Basketball Forever (@Bballforeverfb) November 23, 2013 This would be indeed be absolute heartbreak for Chicago and Rose himself, who finally returned this season after an 18-month layoff healing a torn ACL on his left leg. This season hadn’t gone as smoothly as expected—with the Bulls currently only 6-5 and Rose averaging career lows in points, assists, rebounds, steals and field-goal percentage—but at least he was back on the court and slowly working his way back into the NBA flow of things. With a game heavily reliant on speed and explosiveness, how would Rose be able to adjust to two repaired knees? Mentally, that would be devastating. We’re praying that it’s just a minor injury, as he’s worked so hard to get back already. Speedy recovery, D. Rose.
