The Los Angeles Lakers have set their sights on acquiring Chris Paul, and are willing to part with Pau Gasol to do so, according to an ESPN.com report.
The Lakers, New Orleans and Houston are said to be discussing a three-way deal that would bring Paul to Los Angeles and send Gasol to the Rockets, according to the report.
The Hornets likely would receive Luis Scola or Kevin Martin, in addition to draft picks.
New Orleans has been actively gauging the market for Paul in an attempt to deal to All-Star point guard prior to the season's onset on Christmas Day.
Some teams have expressed reluctance in acquiring Paul, set to be a free agent, without him agreeing to a contract extension.
ESPN.com reports the Lakers are willing to include Gasol in a deal for Paul in hopes of later trying to acquire Dwight Howard from Orlando in a package built around Andrew Bynum.
