Found June 11, 2012 on Celtics Life:
WEEI (Sports Illustrated writer Chris) Mannix said he's heard from people close to Kevin Garnett that the forward is leaning toward retirement, but if Garnett returns to the NBA it's likely to be with the Celtics. "I think if Kevin Garnett wants to keep playing basketball, he will stay in Boston," Mannix said. "I think he's a loyal guy -- remember, he didn't really want to get traded out of Minnesota in the first place. He doesn't like to be a guy who's a mercenary, who wants to bounce around to different organizations and just chase rings like some other players in his age bracket. I think he wants to stay with one organization." As for Ray Allen, his departure seems likely, with New York, Miami and Chicago leading the way as possible landing spots. "There is going to be a ton of interest in Ray Allen in the offseason," Mannix said. "He's going to be able to pick and choose where he wants to play." Allen conceivab...

How do you feel about Rondo & KG leaving before the buzzer?

iamarealgm With time still on the clock, Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett are seen leaving the court angrily at the end of Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Heat. The 1991 Detroit Pistons were ridiculed for a similar act, though more egregious as they all walked out as a team and the game had to be stopped. LeBron James got lots of flack after the 2009 Eastern Conference...

Your Morning Dump… “Sources” are talking about Kevin Garnett

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “First, he has a lot of respect for Doc (Rivers, the C’s coach),” the source said. “I’m not sure there is someone else he could play for at this point. He’s very loyal. But he’s also very proud. As...

Mannix: Rondo and Ray didn’t get along

During an appearance this morning on WEEI, Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix hinted at a riff between Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen: “There is going to be a ton of interest in Ray Allen in the offseason,” Mannix said. “He’s going to be able to pick and choose where he wants to play.” Allen conceivably could return to Boston, but Mannix said that decision might be affected...

Report: San Antonio to recruit Kevin Garnett

Fans of the Boston Celtics better be prepared to hear stories like this for the next few months. While we await word of whether or not Kevin Garnett will return for his 18th season, we are already hearing that a team not named the Boston Celtics is interested in his services should he decide to lace up his ANTA kicks next year. The interested team is the San Antonio Spurs...

Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo didn't shake hands after game 7 (Video)

After the Miami Heat beat the Boston Celtics in last night's Eastern Conference Finals game seven to move onto the 2012 NBA Finals, Celtics star Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo decided to hit the showers and skip the post game pleasantries. Watch as both Rondo and Garnett leave the court without shaking hands with any member of the Miami Heat:

Report: Spurs could target Garnett this summer

Are the Spurs looking to pair Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde on the court at the same time next season? If a report by Buck Harvey of The San Antonio Express-News has any legs to it, they just might. Harvey reports that a source in the Spurs organization told him this weekend that the team will look at all options this summer, including unrestricted free agent Kevin Garnett. While it...

Garnett, Celtics defined by more than age

On March 31, Minnesota wanted so much. Too much. No matter that Kevin Garnett had taken the Target Center court three times already as a Celtic. No matter that he'd been gone for five years; that he should have been more a memory than a source of such crippling insecurity. He was still Kevin Garnett, after all, but these were different desires, different hopes for the man who...

Kevin Garnett to San Antonio More Dream Than Reality for Spurs

A lot of things could happen in free agency this offseason. Kevin Garnett joining, or even replacing, Tim Duncan with the San Antonio Spurs does not seem likely to be one of them. Because offhand remarks often set off the most absurd speculation, the report that a person within the San Antonio Spurs had "tossed out" Garnett as a free agent possibility drew a lot of attention...

Rajon Rondo Throws Ball Off Dwyane Wade’s Back

If there was one highlight for Boston Celtics fans last night in Game 7 it was probably in the opening minutes when Rajon Rondo threw an inbound pass of the back of an unsuspecting Dwayne Wade and was able to score a quick layup. I still never understand why the defender of the ball will turn their back to the inbounder.  In the history of basketball has anyone EVER stolen an inbound...

Strained relationship with Rajan Rondo could reportedly lead to Ray Allen leaving the Celtics

It’s inevitable that the Boston Celtics will look considerably different next season. And while there is a report that Danny Ainge is “open” to bringing everyone back, you have to think that it just won’t happen. As it stands now, Paul Pierce will definitely be back. Rajan Rondo should as well, but they’ve tried to trade him once so you never know. As for Garnett, if he...

Spurs to consider Garnett?

Two days after the San Antonio Spurs were eliminated from the Western Conference Finals, I wrote a piece about what areas the Spurs need to look for this summer in either free agency, the draft, or their international players for team improvement. The areas were another attacking guard and fourth big man who had a perimeter shot and could play defense alongside Tim Duncan. Two nights...

How the 'Big Three' era should be remembered

Before I start, I need to apologize for the long absence. Since I'm currently writing this, it's obvious I'm not dead. I didn't lose interest or my faith in the Celtics or writing. I guess the easiest way to describe it is to say that life got in the way. Just because I wasn't writing about the Celtics didn't mean I wasn't watching every game religiously...

Did Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen play their last games in Boston this weekend?

The Boston Celtics forced the Miami Heat to the brink of elimination. Kevin Garnett channelled his inner "Big Ticket" in the process. Ray Allen and Paul Pierce looked more their age. Through 20 postseason games, KG posted playoff averages of 19.2 points and 10.3 rebounds per night. Allen and Pierce did not help things as much as Celtics Nation hoped they would. Allen averaged...

KG and TD teaming up in San Antonio?

They are the two premier big men of this era - San Antonio Spurs' Tim Duncan and Boston Celtics' Kevin Garnett. Both have dominated the paint offensively and defensively, won NBA titles and garnered many accolades along the way. But now that the season is over and their NBA careers are coming to an end soon, could TD and KG be forming the next "Twin Towers" in San...

Five Damn Good Years

It wasn’t that long ago when Danny Ainge brought in Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen to join Paul Pierce, leading the Celtics to their first NBA Championship in 22 years. That season was as fun as they come, and the rest of the four years wasn’t four behind. That trio might have played its last game together, so take a look at this video and remember that first championship run.
