Drake wasn’t the only celebrity who was snubbed during the Heat’s championship run. The hip hop star was denied access to the Miami Heat’s postgame locker room celebration after their Game 7 victory in the NBA Finals on Thursday, but at that point, the team had already turned someone else away. Spike Lee was spurned by the Heat following the team’s Thursday morning shootaround, where the famous movie director was trying to film a new project, according to the Miami Herald. Lee wanted to shoot a short variation of his 1998 hit film He Got Game, which starred Heat guard Ray Allen, for a spot during ABC’s broadcast of Game 7, but Allen denied Lee’s interview request. Allen doesn’t speak to the media following shootarounds. Lee also tried to interview Heat players Mike Miller, Shane Battier and Mario Chalmers, who all apparently do speak after shootarounds, but they denied Lee as well. Lee, though, didn’t seem to be upset about his denied request, as he shook hands with Heat coach Erik Spoelstra during the shootaround, wishing him luck for Game 7. Lee, a longtime Knicks supporter, told MTV News last year that he didn’t want the Heat to win back-to-back championships, but that didn’t stop him from also appearing in a Nike commercial that aired directly after the conclusion of the Heat’s win on Thursday, in which he and several others congratulated Finals MVP LeBron James on his second straight championship.
