PLAYERS: John Wall
TEAMS: Washington Wizards
I guess the huge tattoo John Wall got and the writer saying he isn’t clean cut because of it didn’t deter the Washington Wizards. Wall’s contract extends another season but it appears the Wizards are intent on making Wall their franchise player and not letting him even reach restricted free agency. Per J. Michael of CSN Washington, the two have opened up contract negotiations to keep the point guard in the area for years to come. The Wizards have begun talking with John Wall’s agent, Dan Fegan, regarding an extension before the regular season, CSN Washington has learned. Wall, the No. 1 overall pick in 2010, is eligible for up to a four-year, max contract with the Wizards in addition to the final year remaining on his deal that will pay him $7.45 million next season. If he’s named the franchise’s designated player, Wall can get five years. If the Wizards cannot reach an agreement with him by Oct. 30, talks will have to be tabled until after the 2013-14 regular season. Although Wall only played 49 games last season, he did show flashes at times of the immense potential he possesses. Even dropping 47 in Memphis during a game later in the season. Is he worth max money right now? No, probably not. But the Wizards will more than likely have to come close to giving that to him to get him to stay.
