I just got back from an 8-hour drive this Saturday with only one thing on my mind…except for a couple X-rated things. I just wanted to sit on my couch, watch the Celtics play the not so exciting Raptors. Why would I be so enthralled over one lousy regular season game? The answer has two words. RAJON RONDOOOOOOO.  Man, I haven’t been so excited over a player on the Celtics since the late great Mr. Shimmy master, Antoine Walker. Yes, we can talk about his unsuccessful years after retired in which he floundered completely (gambling, bankruptcy, the whole shaaaaaBANG), but instead let’s talk Rondo. He is the real deal. NBA fans have to take this man seriously. He is now reaching Lebron James status.  Lets go through his overall game. via celticslife.com 1) Passing Abilities: We all know that the man can pass the ball. He is currently on a 35-game streak with 10 or more assist a game. He is 2 games behind John Stockton, and 11 games behind the great Magic “I love the ladies” Johnson. He WILL BREAK THIS record. When you watch him with the ball, he truly commands the game like a quarterback. He sets up players perfectly. Watch this “how youuuu doing pass” Click here to view the video on YouTube. He already has two 20-assist games this season. 20 FREAKIN ASSIST! Please tell me you think that number is mind-boggling. He lost his recess buddies. And he has now moved to a new school. He lost his best friend Ray Allen (all-time leader in 3-pointers) who he could dish the ball to, and without the blink of an eye, know 3 points were added to the scoreboard. He doesn’t have any chemistry with Jason Terry, who likes to play around with the ball before he takes his shot. He hasn’t had many play dates with Jeff Green, who is still trying to “find his groove.” And all the other acquisitions (Courtney Lee, Leonardo Barbosa, Sullinger, etc.) haven’t had much playing time with the man either. And if you are the school bully, find another victim. It’s truly amazing to see Rondo keep that streak alive.   Hmmmm, maybe my next article will be on  “Who is the better Boston quarterback Tom Brady or Rajon Rondo? To let you guys drool over Rajon Rondo here is a top 10 Rajon Rondo assist video… Click here to view the video on YouTube. 2) Improved Shooting Game: After coming off a dismal 2011 campaign in which he shot 44.8% from the field and had only made 10 3-pointers, it was time for Rajon Rondo to finally improve the one facet of his repertoire that truly needed improvement. That is shooting. He has come out of the gate, guns blazing. The look on his face when defenders leave him open now is “look at me, now look at you, I never cared.” He truly wasn’t afraid of shooting (even though he had a horrible shot), he just loves to pass the ball. He is a very giving man. Some could call him a saint because of all the shots he gives up. Now, after repeatedly working on his game, we have seen much more improvement. He is shooting 53% from the field and has already made 5 three pointers.  When given the opportunity he will take it and make it. The only thing that still needs improvement though, is his free throws (55%). It doesn’t make sense. He can make a shot that is farther away or a shot that has the best defender on him talking garbage about his mother. That part is all in his head. My theory which might be a little far fetched has Doc Rivers strapping Rajon Rondo to a chair making him watch his 44 point outburst against the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals over and over again until he finally understand that he CAN SHOOT. Here is the video: Seriously watch it. He is shooting like this consistently this season. Click here to view the video on YouTube. Rebounding Game: Rajon Rondo is the best rebounding point guard in the league. Maybe even the best rebounding guard in the league. I will throw out two stats for you folks and THAT IS ALL. It will prove my point. Since the 2008-2009 regular season Rajon Rondo has the MOST TRIPLE DOUBLES one ahead of Lebron James (20 to 19). Rajon Rondo also has 7 triple doubles in the playoffs. Yeah, the man is legit. Defensive Ability: You better watch out you better cry, Rajon Rondo is coming and he ain’t telling you why.  He will steal that ball from you. There is no question. You know why? Over his entire career he has averaged 2 steals a game. He has also been an All-Defensive First Team representative twice. He has freakishly long arms that will scare anyone. No man should have hands and arms that long. But, you know what he isn’t complaining with that $55 million contract, and I’m not either. Big Games: Whenever the man is shown on national TV he will come up with a game for the record books. Look at the 7 triple doubles during the playoffs. Look at the game he put up against the Knicks last year (18 points 20 assist and a career high 17 rebounds). He looooooooooves the fans. He wants to treat you guys to a five course meal every time he gets on national TV. He is a gentleman. He dishes, he serves, and most of all he treats you right. Prediction: When it is all said and done, Rajon Rondo will be CROWNED MVP after the season.  Lebron James will need to move over and stop hogging that freaking trophy. People will finally appreciate everything that the barely 6 foot man brings to the table. He is a force to be reckoned with. -Berkowitz

Video: Rajon Rondo talks sneakers

The fine folks at Dime Magazine sent me this video of their interview with Rajon Rondo as he talks sneakers. If it looks like Rondo has a new pair of kicks on almost every game it's because he does. He says he wears his shoes a max of two games (and then gives them to fans).

Rondo doesn’t care about stats

For those who like watching records fall or just enjoy following stats, their eyes are surely following the box scores of Rajon Rondo as he approaches the all-time record for consecutive games with 10 or more assists.    Rondo logged 15 assists against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, giving him 35 games in a row with double-digit dimes, just two behind John Stockton...

On Friday night the Celtics matched up against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The team brought their three time scoring champion, Kevin Durant and old Celtic fan favorite Kendrick Perkins. The team opened up strong in the first half shooting 52.4% from the field...

Boston and San Antonio: Two of a Kind

Celtics Spurs: one of my favorite NBA match-ups. One that features the two preeminent big men of the new millennia as well as two of the league's best coaches. But the similarities don't end there. Both teams feature a trio of All-Stars who have sacrificed scoring, playing time, and salary for the good of their perspective teams. Doc Rivers has praised Gregg Popovich on...
