It's been a while since our last Rookie Report due to the holidays and a lot has happened in the time since our last. Jared Sullinger has recently been seeing extended minutes while proving he can be a reliable asset to the team in winning time. Fab Melo has put up record breaking numbers in the D-League and hurt himself of door frames.  Finally is Kris Joseph who unfortunately was released by the Celtics this past week. We'll look to recap each players last few weeks and what to expect in the weeks to come. NBAE/Getty  Jared Sullinger -  In our last rookie report before Christmas we analyzed Sullinger's minutes and saw a steady decrease in playing time. He ended up closing out December averaging 17.7 MPG compared to the 14.9 MPG we saw previous to Christmas. In the Celtics first four games this January, Sully has averaged 23 MPG and his nu...

Celtics’ Trade Speculation Grows as Team Waives Kris Joseph, Jarvis Varnado

The Celtics opened up two roster spots on Sunday by waiving Kris Joseph and Jarvis Varnado, sparking speculation that the team could be clearing space to make a big-time trade. Jared Sullinger has the best +/- this season of any Boston Celtic

While many write off the +/- statistic as often not being an accurate measure of a player's efficiency, it is rather interesting that rookie Jared Sullinger leads all of the Boston Celtics this season in terms of his +/- rating: Many Celtics fans have been eagerly awaiting the day that Doc Rivers adds Sully to the starting line-up (myself included). His rebounding alone...

Jared Sullinger Downplays Testiness of Celtics-Knicks Game, Makes Everybody Feel Old

Several members of the Celtics and Knicks got pretty worked up during Monday’s game, with Carmelo Anthony going so far as to wait outside the Celtics’ team bus to confront Kevin Garnett. Most of the players downplayed both the chippiness on the game and the altercations afterward, although Celtics coach Doc Rivers did admit that he would “tell on [Anthony]” if it were the...

Recap: Celtics earn a frustrating win over Phoenix

The Celtics are an incredibly frustrating team to watch at times, and they did nothing to wash themselves of that image despite a eight point victory over the Phoenix Suns tonight. The Celtics held large double digit leads on the Suns on multiple occasions, only to blow both back down to single digits, or giving up the lead entirely. The Celtics held a 12 point lead at halftime...
