Last night, Celtics fans held their collective breath as there was news on Twitter that the Courtney Lee deal was liable to fall through. We all remembered what happened last year with David West, and didn't want another nightmare.
Luckily, the deal did go through according to sources, and Courtney is on his way to Boston. But now it appears that Sasha Pavlovic is also included in the sign-and-trade to the Houston Rockets, along with the original players involved: JaJuan Johnson, E'Twaun Moore, and Sean Williams. The Boston Herald's Steve Bulpett clarifies the scrambling that went down:
Deal for C. Lee brought back from dead. Portland steps in as 3rd team. Celts also sign and move Sasha Pavlovic (w/Moore, Johnson, Williams)

Deal originally had NOrl and PHX to facilitate, but that did, indeed, blow up. That's why there was so much scrambling earlier.

Courtney Lee appears to be a perfect compliment to the
current guards on the Celtics roster. As Avery Bradley begins his 3rd
season in the league recovering from double shoulder surgery, Lee provides the
Celtics defense and shooting on the wing, not to mention a much needed
athleticism upgrade and the ability to check top Point Guards and Shooting
Guards. At 6’5 with...
Guard Courtney Lee lands a four-year, $21.5 million fully guaranteed deal from the Celtics in sign and trade deal, source tells Y! Sports.— Marc J. Spears (@SpearsNBAYahoo) July 20, 2012
This is a steal for the Celtics, they gave up virtually nobody that you would miss (except Sasha of course!) and got in return a player that will solidify their bench once Bradley returns. The...
The sign and trade that landed sharp-shooting off-guard Courtney Lee in Boston turned out to be a bit more complicated than it appeared when news of the deal first broke late Thursday evening. Initial reports had Boston sending E’Twaun Moore, JaJuan Johnson, Sean Williams and the second round draft pick the Celtics obtained from Oklahoma [...]
Courtney Lee once looked like he was going to be good -- really good. There is still plenty of time for that to happen now that the 26-year-old shooting guard is reportedly on his way to Boston as part of a sign-and-trade with the Houston Rockets. Lee will begin his fifth season in the NBA as a starter for the Celtics, assuming Avery Bradley has not recovered from offseason shoulder...
Now, this is all speculation and twitter rumor, but it adds some intrigue for us.
Here is a string of twitter posts by someone who says they are Courtney Lee's cousin and by Lee, himself. Make of it what you will. We should know soon enough since he said he was planning to sign within 48 hours. At least he didn't deny it was with the Celtics.
Congrats to my cousin...
The rebuilding process between championships took more than two decades the last time the Celtics did it. With their moves this offseason, the Celtics have set themselves up for a much shorter drought, if it can even be called that. One of the hardest things for an NBA executive to do is to make his team younger while staying in championship contention. With the Celtics' anticipated...
Just as it seemed the Boston Celtics had given up hope of acquiring Courtney Lee this offseason and resigned themselves to filling out their bench with Carlos Delfino or some other minimum salary signings, it appears Danny Ainge has pulled one last trick out of his sleeve. Courtney Lee is close to joining the Celtics
The Celtics needed one more veteran shooting guard to round out their roster and it looks as if they got him. They are currently finalizing a deal with the Houston Rockets to acquire Courtney Lee for JuJuan Johnson, E’Twaun Moore and Sean Williams in addition to a second round pick.
I like this deal because the Celtics barely gave up...
E’Twaun Moore, as much as the Celtics may not have wanted him to go, is going to play for someone else this year. And his departure may have paved the way for more than just Courtney Lee to join the Celtics.
Dionte Christmas is setting himself up nicely to fill a seat on the Celtics bench. He’s been playing well this summer, and Danny Ainge said yesterday that he’s trying...
The Celtics play the Bucks tonight in Vegas. The Summer Celtics were thrown for a loop when 3 of their teammates were pulled and traded during warmups and suffered their first Vegas loss. They've had a day off to regroup and hopefully they will play well in today's game. There is still plenty of talent on the team. Granted, E'Twaun was emerging as the most consistent...
Lost in all the hoopla surrounding the Celtics acquisition of Courtney Lee on Thursday was the Clippers signing KG's buddy Ryan Hollins. Hollins of course came to the Celtics after being waived by the Cavs last season. And while he showed a lot of heart for the C's, he also showed why he will now be playing on his 6th team as he enters his 7th season. That's very rare...
So in case you haven't been keeping track. The Celtics gave up JaJuan Johnson, E’Twaun Moore, Sean Williams (to Houston) Sasha Pavlovic and a second-round draft pick (to Portland) in exchange for Courtney Lee in a three team trade with the Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers.
As a result of the purge of players, the door is open for everyone's favorite Summer Leaguer...
