Shavlik Randolph proved last season that there is a place for him in the NBA. That place just might not be in Boston. Of all the hard-luck players on the Celtics’ crowded roster this summer, Randolph is in a particularly tough spot. Both within the locker room or the front office, Randolph garnered instant respect with his hustle as a reserve center after Jason Collins, who previously served those purposes, was dealt to Washington in a trade deadline deal. But there is no room for sentiment when it comes to business decisions. Randolph inked a pair of 10-day contracts with the Celtics in March, then was extended through the end of the season and offered a second, non-guaranteed year as part of his contract. He is in line to make the veteran’s minimum of a little more than $1 million in 2013-14, if he is still around. That is far from a certainty. After the Celtics waived Kris Joseph on Monday, Randolph is the last member of the Celtics roster with a non-guaranteed deal. The Celtics ...

An updated look at the Celtics roster, and why Humphries & Wallace are unlikely to be traded (for now)

Yesterday was a busy day for the Celtics, as the team introduced three new players (Kris Humphries, Keith Bogans and MarShon Brooks), released one (Kris Joseph), and signed another (Brazilian center Vitor Faverani). With all of the action, the Celtics official roster is now taking shape. The team now has 16 players with either guaranteed or non-guaranteed deals, plus a 17th in...

Danny Ainge: If Nets hadn’t come along with offer, ‘we would’ve kept everybody together’

The Brooklyn Nets are set to introduce Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce at a press conference on Thursday at the Barclays Center. For the first time, Garnett and Pierce will hold up their new Nets jerseys and talk about their opportunity to compete for an NBA title in Brooklyn. On Monday, Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge explained

Blind Optimism: 4 things to love about the Boston Celtics

So in the midst of losing our head coach, two future Hall-of-famers, constant rumors that our uber-talented point guard is soon out the door, repeated talks of tanking and now a former Kardashian on the roster, you would think that the natural reaction of a Celtics fan would be to: bury their heads in the sand, obsess over the Sox/Bruins/Pats, sob hysterically after their fourth...

Courtney Lee Could Become Redundant on Rebuilding, New-Look Celtics (Poll)

Courtney Lee insisted he was thrilled to be with the Celtics last season, even as his minutes waned and coach Doc Rivers seemed to lose confidence in him. He was one of the first to make an appearance to watch Boston’s summer league squad in Orlando and to seek out new coach Brad Stevens for a face-to-face meeting, and he has become fast friends with Jeff Green. Yet while Lee...

Marshon Brooks, Kris Humphries, and Keith Bogans don’t look happy to be Celtics

As part of the Paul Pierce/Kevin Garnett mega-deal to the Brooklyn Nets, the Boston Celtics received Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks, and Keith Bogans in return along with a slew of draft picks. Yesterday, the trio of new Celtics were introduced at a press conference and the below photo shows that they weren’t exactly excited to be there: The above photo looks a great deal different...

Boston Celtics: Who needs to step up in order for the Celtics to Win?

Boston Celtics: Who needs to step up in order for Celtics to succeed? By: Deion Hulse: HoopStuff Contributor With the departure of two of Boston’s most iconic players, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, the Boston Celtics will need many players to step up and produce more than in previous years. The Celtics have many young, talented players and can succeed if they approach the season...

Forward Kris Joseph Waived By Boston Celtics

The Kris Joseph experiment has already ended with the Boston Celtics. Acquired in the 9-player mega deal between Boston and the Brooklyn Nets involving center pieces Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, Joseph was an obvious throw in for salary cap reasons. Ironically, the Celtics was the franchise that drafted Joseph in the 2012 NBA draft and had been waived prior to the season starting...

Jeff Green Represents Celtics’ Future to Some Fans, Toxic Contract to Others (Poll)

Kevin Garnett said last year that Jeff Green has a chance to be one of the greatest players in NBA history. The Celtics are about to test Garnett’s theory, big time. Green, who spent much of last season as the fourth offensive option behind Paul Pierce, Garnett and Rajon Rondo, respectively, will start next season without at least two and perhaps all three of those players. Pierce...

Al Skinner Says Brad Stevens Has Proven Track Record, Perfect Temperament to coach Celtics (Video)

Brad Stevens is into his second week as the 17th coach in the history of the Boston Celtics and is already gaining attention for what he will bring the the team. Former Celtic and Boston College Head coach Al Skinner joined the NESN Sports Today Summer Basketball Show to talk about Stevens. The two have served on a number of NCAA committees together over the last few years and Skinner...

Scal called Ainge for a job, was 4th on list

Would you want Scal as the Celtics coach?     RT @MrTrpleDouble10: Scal said he half-jokingly called Ainge as soon as Doc was gone to ask about job. Ainge told him he was 4th on his list — Jay King (@ByJayKing) July 16, 2013 Alright. I know this was probably a joke, but let's say it wasn't. Would you want Scal as the Celtics coach? For anyone that reads my posts...

Paul Pierce sends his thanks to Boston via Twitter and Instagram

Welp, the time has come for me to finally write THAT post. I was hoping to put off this post for another five years or so, but in the ever-changing world of sports, things can happen rather quickly. Such is the case with former Boston Celtic legend Paul Pierce, now a Brooklyn Net. Even after the blockbuster trade was announced on Friday, for some (including myself) it did not feel...

Celtics Waive Kris Joseph

The Boston Celtics have waived Kris Joseph. Joseph appeared in 10 games last season split between the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets. Joseph was acquired by the Celtics in a trade with the Nets.

Breaking down the assets from the Nets trade

The trade is done, the guys have been introduced, and now the process of moving on begins (well, maybe it begins after the Nets introduce everyone on Thursday).  Now we’re starting to get a better feel for what the Celtics really got out of this deal. I’m hoping this post can be a handy guide for fans who are trying to figure out what the C’s got as far as “assets” and...

All 27 Of Paul Pierce’s #ThankYouBoston Instagrams

A.B. As of last weekend, Paul Pierce is officially no longer a member of the Boston Celtics. Considered by many to be one of the top 5 Celtics players of all time, Pierce spent the last 15 years as a member of the Green. During that span Pierce won an NBA Championship in 2008 and scored over 20,000 career points. So while Pierce’s career will continue, “The Truth” will take...
