It's been six years since Wally Szczerbiak took the court alongside Kevin Garnett for the Minnesota Timberwolves, but apparently bad feelings have died a slow death between the two NBA players. Toward the end of the Boston Celtics' 115-111 loss to the Heat on Wednesday, which put them behind 2-0 in the Eastern Conference finals, Szczerbiak tweeted: "KG is another one who lacks the clutchgene always has." (The message has since been deleted.) This was after Garnett missed five of his final six field goal attempts and turned the ball over with 1:16 remaining in overtime, but still, it was harsh. After all, Garnett finished the game with 18 points and eight rebounds. He did shoot just 33.3 percent from the field, but at 36, Garnett was largely responsible for leading the Celtics so deep in the playoffs this season after many thought the team too old to contend. Szczerbiak, on the other hand, is a year younger than Garnett and hasn't played in the NBA since 2009, when he averaged 7.0 points and 3.2 rebounds for Cleveland. By comparison, Garnett averaged 15.8 points and 8.5 rebounds that season for Boston. Szczerbiak's tweet might not have been the smartest move ragging on a older former teammate who's still relevant after you've retired is never a great idea but it was just one message among many that he posted to his @WSzczerbiak account during Wednesday's game. Other messages included: "KG never takes big shot for Celtics now he's fourth in line behind Pierce Allen and Rondo to take clutch shot. Warrior all game though!!" "KG was a warrior all game but in OT he was horrible on both ends of the floor tonight!! NBAPlayoffs" So no, it wasn't all negative, but it's the clutchgene tweet that sticks with people, old spite dredged up that makes Szczerbiak look bitter and likely serves little purpose than to further fuel Garnett's anger-driven game. Szczerbiak rips Kevin Garnett

Wally Szczerbiak ripped his former teammate Kevin Garnett over Twitter during Game 2 between the Celtics and Heat for his play.

Kevin Garnett extra-motivated because he might retire following this season, according to report

We’ve all noticed Kevin Garnett’s increased production, which has been consistent and relentless since the All-Star break as the final year in his contract winds down. If you believe Garnett has increased his focus or intensity because this is a contract year, I have a time machine I’d love to sell you. He has more than 291 million reasons not to chase his next contract,...

Report: Garnett ripped by ex-teammate

Wally Szczerbiak played six-plus seasons with Kevin Garnett from 1999-2006 with the Minnesota Timberwolves, so it's safe to assume he got to know Garnett and his game pretty well. Szczerbiak's career has since ended, and he has moved on to do analyst work for CBS Sports, which means that it is now his job to give opinions on the game. So with Garnett's Celtics in the...

Tweet of the Night

This tweet was sent to us from Josh Hobson because I think Wally deleted this tweet for all the crap he got for it.  I went back and checked my timeline of my retweets and couldn't find it!  Smart PR move on his part because let's face it, who is Wally Szczerbiak to say anything to a man of Kevin Garnett's caliber whether the statement was true or not.  Just a battle...

Can Boston Celtics recover from devastating Game 2 loss?

Forget for a second that the Boston Celtics will be playing their 16 playoff game in 32 days on Friday night. Push aside the fact that Kevin Garnett, 36 years old and with more than 50,000 NBA minutes under his belt, has never played longer in a Celtics uniform than the 45 minutes he posted in Game 2. Overlook the possibility for mental fatigue that comes with flying from Miami...

Dwyane Wade stares down Kevin Garnett hard after clutch layup (Video)

Wednesday was an embarrassing night for Kevin Garnett. The 36-year-old forward went 6-18 for 18 points in an Eastern Conference finals Game 2 loss to the Heat. He let Dwyane Wade score a layup in front of him to essentially seal the game in overtime, and he was called out by Wally Szczerbiak on Twitter. As you can see in the image above, Wade stared back at KG hard after the layup...

Kevin Garnett could consider signing with Lakers

Kevin Garnett is currently the fourth-highest salary earner in the NBA, but he’ll be a free agent after the season and likely to sign for far less than the $21.2 million he’s making. There have been reports that the Nets will be interested in signing him, and it’s possible he and the Lakers could come to an agreement. During an interview with Mark Willard on 710 ESPN Radio...

Celtics 101, Heat 91

Kevin Garnett had 24 points and 11 rebounds and Rajon Rondo scored 21 points with 10 assists to lead the Boston Celtics to a 101-91 victory over the Heat in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals on Friday night, cutting Miami's lead in the series to 2-1. Game 4 is Sunday night in Boston. LeBron James scored 34 points but the NBA MVP and the rest of the Heat went cold during...

Your Morning Dump... Where the jungle was f---ing rocking

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. "The next game, game 4 is going to be even more. You gotta anticipate them making adjustments.  We're gonna make some adjustments.  But the tenacity, the desperation has to be there.  We...

The Celtics’ Last Stand? Not Yet

Tonight the proud Celtics wouldn’t say die, and behind 24 points from Kevin Garnett and 23 points from Paul Pierce, Boston held off a late Miami charge to secure a 101-91 victory to get on the board in this series — they now trail two games to one, with Game 4 set for Sunday night at 8:30 P.M. Eastern. The Celtics led by only two points (30-28) after the first quarter, but gradually...

Davis Family Anxiously Awaiting Lottery Results

Anthony Davis says he mirrors his game after Kevin Garnett on offense and Serge Ibaka on defense.

Vote: What Grade Would You Give NBA Officials This Postseason?

Game 1 between the Celtics and the Heat had basketball fans and analysts around the country talking. But they weren't talking about Miami's 93-79 win. They were talking about the five technical fouls the Celtics were assessed, many of which seemed questionable. In the second quarter, Kevin Garnett was given a delay of game technical for tipping the ball toward the sideline...

Celtics Still Have A Pulse, Win Game 3

That ole Celtic magic remains. After falling 2-0 to the mighty Miami Heat in their NBA Eastern Conference Finals series the Celtics roared back with a 101-91 win over the Heat in Game 3. This time Rajon Rondo didn’t have to do it all. Oh Rondo contributed big time scoring 21 points with 10 assists and six rebounds but Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett pick it up. Garnett...

Foolproof plans to ensure a Celtics victory

The Celtics need to win tonight. Falling behind 2-0 to the Heat could be a death sentence. Better defensive rebounding and foul shooting would be nice, a consistent 48 minutes from Rajon Rondo, and someone other than Kevin Garnett as a scoring option would go a long way to giving the C’s a realistic chance to win game two. If none of that works, then it’s time to get in the...

A valiant, stinging loss

It was by far their most devastating loss of the season, yet the Boston Celtics were every bit the champions they had been in winning the 2008 title. They were pesky and courageous and they desperately attempted to defy defeat. They were outmatched and on the road and down to one player with enough gas and skill to make a difference, and yes, they were a little inconsistent, yet...
