Suns Select Robin Lopez

By Stefan Swiat, Posted: June 26, 2008 With the 15th overall pick, the Phoenix Suns select… Robin Lopez. After scads of analysis and discussion leading up to the draft, Suns management whittled down their list of prospects to four, with Lopez being chief among them. The energetic 7-0 center averaged 10.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks a game last season while...

Lopez Injury Update

Updated: March 28, 2010 After being seen today by specialist Dr. Christopher Huston of The Orthopedic Clinic Association (TOCA) in Phoenix, it was determined that center Robin Lopez will undergo a conservative treatment of medication, rest and rehabilitation on his injured back. Lopez will then be re-evaluated in two weeks. The second-year player was the Suns’ first-round pick...

Suns Exercise Fourth-Year Option on Lopez

Posted: Oct. 21, 2009 The Phoenix Suns have exercised the fourth-year option on the contract of center Robin Lopez for the 2011-12 season, the team has announced. Originally the Suns’ first-round pick (15th overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft, the 7-0, 255-pound center blossomed in 2009-10 after being inserted into the Suns’ starting lineup midway through the season. Lopez...

3 way trade idea -Wolves/Suns/Blazers

What we think we know: The Wolves have a young, cheap asset with quite a bit of potential in Derrick Williams. He seems less likely to reach that potential with the Wolves given the presence of Love. He's our best trade chip. We need a young wing badly and by rumors have had interest in Batum in the past (rumors of offering our pick for him the last two years). The Suns...

Position Breakdown: Suns Centers

Stefan Swiat, Posted: Sept. 17, 2010 Robin Lopez The 2009-10 season didn't exactly get off to the right "foot" for Robin Lopez. On the last day of training camp, Lopez suffered a broken metatarsal in his left foot, keeping him on the sidelines until Nov. 27. But before his injury, no one garnered more praise for their offseason development than...

Lopez Expected to Return for Lakers Series

By Stefan Swiat, Posted: May 12, 2010 The arrival of an inside presence was one of the more pleasant surprises for the Suns this season. Only the return of that presence could be more welcome. Since injuring his back against the Knicks on March 26, second-year center Robin Lopez has been attempting to work his way back onto the court. Plagued with a bulging disk, pain...

Lopez to Return Against Wolves

By Stefan Swiat, Posted: Dec. 14, 2010 After missing a month with an injured left knee, Suns center Robin Lopez will return to the lineup tomorrow against the Wolves. The Suns center suffered a moderate sprain of the medial collateral ligament (MCL) and posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) when teammate Jared Dudley crashed into him on November 14 against the Lakers. Up...

Artists' Alley

By Brad G. Faye, Posted: March 14, 2011 In professional sports, finding an athlete who is also an aspiring artist is no daunting task. Finding an artist willing to give that athlete the opportunity to step into his shoes, however, is a different story. So when artist/writer Todd McFarlane recently extended an invitation to Robin Lopez to check out his Tempe office,...

Lawal Impresses as Suns Get Blasted by Rockets

Stefan Swiat, Posted: July 9, 2010 Although it’s 106 degrees outside in Las Vegas, the Suns’ shooting didn’t match the weather in the first game of the NBA Las Vegas Summer League. Although the Suns were the hottest shooting team in the league during the regular season, the iron was unkind to them on Friday against the Rockets. Shooting just 40 percent from the...
