By Dustin Krugel, Suns.com Posted: May 27, 2003 It seems like every team is searching for the next Dirk Nowitzki and the Phoenix Suns are no different. On Tuesday, the Suns got a close-up look at Zarko Cabarkapa, a supposed Nowitzki clone, in a private workout session at America West Arena that also included Mississippi State Mario Austin, North Dakota forward Jerome Beasley and Notre Dame point guard Chris Thomas. Cabarkapa is a versatile 6-11 forward from Yugoslavia, who can play all three frontcourt positions, but is most comfortable at the small forward position. “I like an up-tempo game,” Cabarkapa said through his agent and interpreter Rade Filipovich after his first NBA tryout following a 13-hour flight to Phoenix. “I like to run the floor. I like to play outside and at the small forward position. I can also play at the four, but I’m obviously much more confident facing the basket.”

Dirk Nowitzki Might Be Done Playing for Germany’s National Team

If true, this will surely make Mark Cuban one happy dude. Svetislav Pesic, the new coach of Germany’s national hoops team, says he’s not counting on Dirk Nowitzki (who expressed some regret about playing for his country last summer) going forward. From Fiba.com: “Does Nowitzki figure into Pesic’s plans? ‘I believe that Nowitzki isn’t expecting my call,’ Pesic said...

Mavericks-Hornets Preview

A hobbled Dirk Nowitzki isn't ideal for the slumping Dallas Mavericks, who have few off days for him to recover during a busy stretch. They haven't needed much - or any - production from Nowitzki when facing the New Orleans Hornets this season, though. The defending NBA champions are in a slump and unsure of the status of their superstar for Friday night's matchup at...

Realistic chance Howard ends up in Dallas

As members of three different teams, Deron Williams, Dirk Nowitzki and Dwight Howard all took the floor Sunday night for the NBA All-Star Game in Orlando. The next time all three are playing in the same game it could be as teammates. If Howard is not traded by the March 15 deadline, there's a realistic chance that the Orlando Magic center will be wearing a Dallas Mavericks jersey...

The All-Star Break Is Over – Let’s Get Back To Playing Some Basketball

The All-Star game was a slathering of dunks, hoopla and oohs and ahs. Glad it’s over, glad the West won 152-149, led by All-Star MVP Kevin Durant with 36 points.
