The City of Minneapolis, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx and Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) have agreed to the major terms of a $97 million deal to renovate the 23-year old city-owned Target Center. Minneapolis will contribute $48.5 million to the project, the Timberwolves and Lynx will pay $43 million and AEG will pay $5.5 million. “The new Target Center will be stunning. I am thrilled that Timberwolves and Lynx fans will soon have a first class experience when they come to our games,” said Glen Taylor, majority owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx professional basketball teams, which both use Target Center as their home. “This is a fair and sensible solution. Target Center has a perfect location and good bones, so we’re excited about building something truly special on that strong foundation.” As part of the deal, the Wolves have extended their lease to 2032.

Kevin Love, Ricky Rubio remain keys to Wolves' success

MINNEAPOLIS -- Kings and pawns, captains and crew members, cornerstones and building blocks. Rick Adelman saw the picture clearly when previous Timberwolves president David Kahn coaxed him out of hiatus in 2011: Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio working in harmony, with the rest of the pieces falling into place around them. The first part of the veteran hoops sage's vision came to...

Timberwolves' Robbie Hummel, A.J. Price know all that's guaranteed is a roster spot

Wolves Monday: Adelman still undecided at small forward

Practice makes perfect for 3-point woes, or so Wolves hope

MINNEAPOLIS -- It's nothing more than an extended game of around-the-world, not unlike the one you may have tried in the driveway as a youngster. Swish. "Six-for-six," the Timberwolves assistant seated under the nearest basket barks out. Swish. "Seven-seven." In-and-out. Kevin Love bellows an expletive that reverberates around a mostly-empty, cavernous Target...
