Found August 27, 2012 on Celtics Life:
As devastating as it was to lose the 2010 Finals, a big part, of why I wanted the Celtics to win that series so much, was to make up for their loss in 1985.  When they had the MVP, Larry Bird, and home court advantage in the Finals.  The Celtics were looking to repeat that year.  But something other than the Flakers may have contributed to them not being able to do it. On the night of May 16, 1985, in the middle of the Eastern Conference finals between the Celtics and Sixers, Bird was apparently involved in a scuffle that started at a now-defunct bar called Chelsea’s and spilled out to the corner of State Street and Merchant’s Row. After the altercation, Mike Harlow, a bartender/former Colgate football player, claimed he was sucker-punched by Bird. Nick Harris, a man who was with Bird and Quinn Buckner on the night of the incident, was treated at Massachusetts General Hospital’s emergency room that night. Bird and Harlow, then Harris and Harlow allegedly got into a shout...

Rajon Rondo Hangs Out In Philippines, Records 'Triple-Double' With Lovely Young Women (Photo)

Rajon Rondo made triple-doubles a regular occurrence last season, when the Celtics point guard recorded six regular-season triple-doubles and four more in the playoffs. With 10 playoff triple-doubles, Rondo is tied with former Celtic Larry Bird for the third-most playoff triple-doubles in NBA history. Rondo achieved another triple-double of a different kind this summer. In an Instagram...

Areas of Improvement: Jeff Green finding comfort and playing with consistency

This is a series of posts which highlight each key player in the Celtics’ run towards banner 18.  It will highlight the areas of their game they need to improve most for the Celtics to be able to compete with the talent-blitzed teams of 2012-13.  The area will sometimes be a player’s biggest flaw, or sometimes his biggest strength, but each post will highlight what this Celtics...

Jason Terry is ready to go, both physically and mentally. The new Celtics signed shooting guard took part in a Reebok event with fellow NBA players John Wall, Jameer Nelson, Ramon Sessions, Dionte Christmas and others to give young athletes a few training tips. At 34 years old, Terry knows that staying in shape is of the utmost importance in a league dominated by young, athletic...

The Power Behind the Tattoo

Much has been made of Jason Terry's new tattoo. He's been showing it off all over Boston and pretty much guaranteeing a championship. Some people think it's just showmanship. Others think that it's foolish for him to get that tattoo and they don't like his guarantees. Recall that Jason Terry also got a tattoo of the Larry O'Brien trophy in the off-season...

The Celtics quiet but effective offseason

via Celticslife The offseason was reminiscent of a storm brewing off a shoreline, that shoreline being the Boston harbor. Danny Ainge was able to collect pieces that will have the Boston Celtics in a better position than last year. This is remarkable considering last year’s team lost to the Miami Heat in seven games in the Eastern Conference Finals. Without diving into...

For the Celtics, the Issue Still Remains: No Rebounds, No Rings

Boston Celtics Glaring Issue Still Not Addressed During Off-Season   Scour the Internet, and I dare you to find one person who documents their opinions on the NBA who gave a poor review of the Boston Celtics off-season. Chad Ford gave the Celtics a straight A, John Hollinger said the Celtics did a good job, [...]

Scal on the verge of becoming a coach

Boston loves Scal.  Of course, we didn’t always.  People tend to forget that early on in Scal’s tenure here, a lot of people hated him.  But they were under some impression that him popping wide open 3′s as a result of being set up by Jason Kidd would continue without him when he joined a crappy team.  People also tend to forget he was part of two losing seasons in Boston...

Rajon Rondo channels his inner Roy Hobbs

One of my favorite movies is "The Natural." One of Roy Hobbs' (Robert Redford's) most famous lines was: "And then when I walked down the street people would've looked and they would've said there goes Roy Hobbs, the best there ever was in this game." He says this later on the movie, but I believe he also says it in the beginning before a drastic...

Larry Bird statue coming in the fall of 2013

That’s right folks! The Indiana State campus will finally honor the legend that put their tiny college on that map some 30 plus years ago. French Lick and Terre Haute Indiana were put on the World map during the 1978-79 basketball season, when Larry Bird vaulted his unknown state university to first in the nation. [...]

Larry “Legend” will be IMMORTALIZED yet AGAIN with ANOTHER statue and DESERVEDLY so. According to our friends over at CLNS Radio, the Larry Bird effigy will be unveiled during the fall of 2013 at his Alma mater of Indiana State. A great honor of a man who put the school on the map  in 1979. Sculptor Bill Wolfe said he wants to make sure Bird’s statue is taller than those...

What is Missing?

Is it really just a jump shot? Is that really all John Wall and Rajon Rondo are missing to have them make the next jump from good to great or maybe even great to amazing? This is what many believe. “If Rajon Rondo had a jumpshot you wouldn’t be able to stop him” “What if [...]
