PLAYERS: Steve Novak
TEAMS: New York Knicks
Welcome back, Novak! The Knicks have reportedly re-signed free agent Steve Novak following a season in New York during which he led the NBA in three point shooting percentage. Novak had his best NBA season in 2011-12 averaging career highs in minutes per game (18.9), points (8.8) and rebounds (2.0). His 47% from beyond the arc was a key component to an improved Knicks team that desperately needed consistent long-range shooting (they ranked 21st overall in three point percentage among NBA teams even with Novak’s prowess from deep). The 29 year-old Marquette product is limited offensively when not open and set, but he quickly became a Garden favorite with his hustle, team-first attitude and deadly accuracy once provided an open look. Not to mention, his patented discount double check move ranked high on the unintentional comedy scale until his treys become so common that his “signature move” started to be recognized as such. Overall, we’re happy to see Novak get his payday and hope he continues to drain from downtown in 2012-13. Cue incredibly dramatic “Novakaine” YouTube compilation we can’t believe exists…

Kidd: Nowitzki told me to go to N.Y.

When making a decision whether or not to return to the Mavs, Jason Kidd reported that a conversation with his friend and former teammate ultimately helped make the call.

Knicks re-sign shooting ace Novak

The New York Knicks made some recent roster moves including re-signing three-point shooting ace Steve Novak. “This is where he wanted to be,” said Mark Bartelstein, Novak’s agent. “He wanted to be back in New York.” The well-traveled Novak (NBA and D-League) proved to be a surprise contributor last season for New York where he led the NBA in 3-point shooting at 47...

Knicks Welcome Marcus Camby Back to the Big Apple Ten Years Later

During his first tenure with the Knicks from 1998-2002, Marcus Camby was faced with beginning to fill the shoes of the oft-injured and ever aging Patrick Ewing. Despite the fans having such a high expectation for the center position, Camby filled in quite nicely, not only helping the Knicks to the NBA Finals in 1999, but averaging a double-double in each of his two latter seasons...

So the answer is Marcus Camby then, Knicks?

The New York Knicks needed front-court depth heading into the Free Agent Period. They addressed that need by locking into a 3-year $13.2 million guaranteed contract with Marcus Camby. Marcus Camby is 48-years old, under contract until he's 51. He is expected to back up both Amar'e and Tyson, filling in at both the Power Forward and Center positions. Is this a good idea for...
