Right now the Boston Celtics sit at 8-9. That record as of now is good for second place in a ridiculously weak division led by the Philadelphia 76ers who have feasted on a weak schedule and have been thoroughly crushed by contenders. The Boston Celtics currently sit at 7th in the East and will still likely make the playoffs. The Big 3 experiment in Boston was a fun experiment – one of the true big splashes of the last decade, but Celtics SG Ray Allen, SF Paul Pierce and especially PF Kevin Garnett are coming forth to the twilight of their career.
All three players are the type of veteran presence that could gather a significant amount of prospects and young talent for the future. In every American “major” sports league, teams that are on the brink of contention part with an arm and a leg to get “that last piece” to place them in a serious position to win a title.
