As a Villanova alumnus and die-hard Wildcats fan, I was shocked when looking over the 2008-09 schedule and realizing that all of 'Nova's Big Five games will take place before New Year's Day.
The long-simmering rivalry between local basketball powers St. Joe's and Villanova, dubbed "The Holy War," is a throwdown which for the last seven years has been scheduled in February, during what's commonly referred to as "Rivalry Week." This year, however, the 67th meeting between the Hawks and Wildcats will kick off a bit earlier. Like, tonight.
