Found December 30, 2011 on Cavaliers Locker:
19-year old point guard Kyrie Irving and 20-year old power forward Tristan Thompson are off to fast starts for the Cavs.  Irving has not shot the ball too well (33.3%) as he is 7 of 21 from the floor, but, he is still playing solid overall basketball.  Irving has played in 2 games (both starts) for the Cavs so far this year and he is averaging 23.0 minutes, 10.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game.  He won’t likely see an increase  in playing time any time soon because Ramon Sessions has been outstanding for the Cavs off the bench so far this year.  Tristan Thompson is backing up Antawn Jamison at power forward and he brings a lot of energy to the second unit for the Cavaliers.  Thompson has played in 2 games (0 starts) for the Cavs so far this year and he is averaging 21.0 minutes, 12.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 1.0 blocked shot per game so far this year.  He is also shooting 64.3% from the floor so far this year as most of his shots come close to ...

Q+A: Tristan Thompson

by Brendan Bowers / @StepienRules After being selected this past June out of the University of Texas as a player relatively unknown to the majority of Cleveland Cavaliers fans prior to Draft night, Tristan Thompson has already emerged as a fan favorite during this young season almost as quickly as he elevates up off the hardwood. The electric leaper from Toronto, Canada is proving...

Indiana Pacers 98, Cleveland Cavaliers 91 in O.T.

The Cavaliers only shot 38.6% from the floor and they were outrebounded 60-49 last night, so they probably got blown out right?  Nope.  That is because the Cavs played stellar defense in holding the Pacers to 38.3% shooting from the floor.  The Cavs had the last shot in regulation, so they should have won this game, but Kyrie Irving’s shot barely missed, sending the game into...

Cavaliers Show Peek of Princeton Offense

It was poetic. It was fluid.  It even led to a Byron Scott smile. One placed roughly one foot above a set of crossed arms, but a smile is most definitely a smile. The first quarter featured a young Cavalier team trading largely in slop, ultimately resulting in double-digit turnovers and a few head-scratching moments vis a vis extra, perhaps unnecessary pass attempts. But once this...

Can’t resist The Trist: Thompson making an immediate impact in Wine and Gold

Flashback to June 23rd, 2011 and yours truly watching the NBA Draft at my college house in Columbus. Knowing that Kyrie Irving was a near certainty and still basking in the warmth of our new point guard on board, the number four came as a shock to me. The pick: Tristan Thompson, the 6’9″ freshman power forward out of Texas. Admittedly, I had not researched Thompson nearly as...

Game Two: When Things Felt Infinitely Better As Cavs Win By Sixteen

I was having a tough time after opening night. I had just spent a good portion of the offseason talking about how I thought Samardo Samuels was going to make an big impact this season he and didn't even get into the game. Skyenga sat destined for the D-League, Kyrie Irving didn't light the world on fire automatically in his first real game since his eleventh one at Duke,...
