Oklahoma City Thunder
OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma City Thunder protected its home court. Barely. Despite a second poor shooting night from Kevin Durant, the Thunder notched a 102-99 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night inside Chesapeake Energy Arena to take a 2-0 lead in the first-round playoff series. Durant scored 26 points on 5-of-17 shooting and had a game-high seven turnovers. However, he made 14 of 16 free throws to help the Thunder go 37-for-39 at the foul line and eke out the win. Game 3 is Thursday night in Dallas. "It has become a rivalry," Mavericks guard Jason Terry said after seeing the first two games of this Western Conference finals rematch get decided by a combined four points. Russell Westbrook scored a team-high 29 points for the Thunder. James Harden had 15 points, Kendrick Perkins scored 13 and Derek Fisher had 11. Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki led all players with 31 points. Forward Shawn Marion scored 15, and Delonte West and Jason Terry added 1...

OKLAHOMA CITY The shot went up and the celebration began.
Kevin Durant, the star forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder, hit another big shot this time coming in the first game of the NBA playoffs for the win against the Dallas Mavericks.
But Durant didn't celebrate.
"It's only Game One, man," he said. "It's too early for all that."
OKLAHOMA CITY Even Kevin Durant's game-winning shot looked a bit off.
Kind of expected on a night where pretty much nothing really seemed right.
Side of the rim. Backboard. Some more rim.
Oh, and cue the confetti.

The Oklahoma City Thunder don't need much help on the basketball court. The Thunder boast not only the league scoring champion in Kevin Durant, but they also finished with third best record in the NBA this season. The NBA game is a curious one. One that presents us with almost 3 hours of theater in which their can be hundreds of events that lead to victory. And yet, many observers often walk away wondering why they watch the 1st 75-90 of the game. Because, often, it seems that only the final few minutes -- often referred to as "crunch time" -- is all that truly matters...
