The Blazers won both of their games against the Jazz last season in Utah, but this season Portland has really struggled on the road. Utah is 9-3 at home this season and the Blazers have only beaten 1 team on the road this season that has a winning record and that was in the 2nd game of the season.

Portland C Marcus Camby stated about the Blazers’ road struggles, “I don’t know why we play like we do (Friday) and then we go on the road and the effort doesn’t seem to be there at times.”

The Blazers have struggled to score on the road, but that may change in this game facing a Jazz team that only ranks 21st in the league on defense.

LeMarcus Aldridge (22.5 ppg), Wesley Mathews (13.6 ppg), and Gerald Wallace (13.5 ppg) will be counted on to provide the offense tonight. Mathews is an ex-Jazz play and last season in the 2 games against his former team he averaged 19.5 ppg.

For Portland to win this game they will need to play good D and hit the boards facing the Utah frontcourt duo of Al Jefferson (17.9 ppg 9 rpg) and Paul Millsap (17 ppg 9.1 rpg).

Aldridge and Camby must play these guys well and not allow them to dominate the paint.

Portland Trailblazers vs. Utah Jazz Betting Lines & Handicapping

The Jazz do not have one backcourt player that is averaging in double figures and PG Devin Harris (9.2 ppg) and Gordon Hayward (8.7 ppg) have to knock down some open shots or the Portland D will pack the lane on defense.

SG Raja Bell (5.9 ppg) is questionable for this game with a groin injury.

Both the Jazz and Blazers are 4.5 games back of the Thunder in the Northwestern Division and the winner of tonight’s game will take over 3rd place in the division.

Blazers vs. Jazz Free Prediction

This season the Blazers are 11-8-1 ATS with an O/U record of 8-12 and the Jazz are 9-9 ATS with an O/U record of 9-9.

In some betting trends for this Northwest Division match up the Blazers are 3-11 ATS in their last 14 road games, 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games as a road underdog, and they have an Under record of 6-2 in their last 8 games.

The Jazz are 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games as a home favorite, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall, and they have an Over record of 4-1 in their last 5 games.

Pick: I think the Blazers will continue their road woes tonight and they will not be able to contain Jefferson and Millsap in the paint.

Take the Jazz to win this game and cover the 2-point spread.
