Last year, the Sacramento Kings roster was stocked full of guys who were more than capable of playing significant minutes at the small forward position. Interestingly enough, they all were very different in the way they play the game of basketball. With Andres Nocioni, Donte’ Greene, Ime Udoka, Omri Casspi, Desmond Mason at the beginning of the year, and Francisco Garcia toward the end, coach Paul Westphal had his work cut out for him and it showed. Every single one of those guys listed above started a few games at one point or another, not to mention saw their minutes fluctuate.
That will not be the case this year. Nocioni was traded, Udoka doesn’t appear to be coming back, Mason was gone even before his Sacramento career began, and Garcia is likely going to play the shooting guard position, or find himself with a role coming off of the bench.
