Tyreke Evans has just become the latest NBA player to take his talents across the Atlantic. He came to an agreement with Italian League club Virtus Roma this morning, and he’ll be officially signed by the end of the night. From Sportando.net…
Virtus Roma agreed to terms with Tyreke Evans for the season 2011-12 with an NBA out to exercise by the player when lockout ends. The contract, as announced by Acea Roma, will be signed in the night.
Evans spent his two NBA seasons with Sacramento Kings after being drafted with the 4th overall pick in 2009. At the end of his rookie year in NBA, Evans has been named Rookie of the Year averaging 20.1ppg, 5.3rpg and 5.8apg in 72 games.
As is the case with Brook Lopez, who agreed to sign with with Besiktas today, Tyreke obviously won’t be going anywhere if tomorrow’s efforts to end the lockout don’t prove to be futile. Based on what has happened the last few times we’ve been led to feel cautiously optimistic about the return of NBA basketball, I wouldn’t recommend getting your hopes up.
I’m curious to find out if all the rumors about Evans letting himself go and gaining a bunch of weight have any basis.
