Was Noah's Mom really a model? How did this happen? He may not be the biggest name on the Celtics roster, but very quietly Chris Wilcox is carving out a niche on this team. After collecting a DNP-CD in the opener vs. Miami, the 11 year veteran has appeared in each of the C's last eight games, and has played double digit minutes in the last five. And he should be playing more. Last night, Wilcox played just over 12 minutes, and his numbers were staggering. Ok so maybe seeing 6 points, 3 rebounds and a block on the stat sheet isn't staggering, but his impact on the game, well that's a different story. Let's break it down now y'all. Wilcox on the floor: 12:05 of game time - Celtics outscore Nets 31-15, Out-rebound Nets 16-11, and both teams grab 6 offensive boards. Wilcox on the bench: 35:55 of game time - Nets outscore Celtics 87-66, Out-rebound C's 36-28, and out-offensive rebound the green 12-6. When Wilcox entered the game with just under 8 minutes t...

Celtics Lead Raptors at the Half 47-42 As Rondo Extends Streak

Rajon Rondo has already extended his double-digit assist streak to 33 games in the first half as the Celtics lead the Raptors 47-42. Rondo had seven assists in the first quarter after making the game-time decision to return as the starting point guard. Rondo, who sprained his right ankle Wednesday night against the Jazz, showed [...]

Jeff Green’s Dunk Sparks ‘Explicit’ Reaction From Kevin Garnett as Forward Sheds ‘Lackadaisical’ Effort (Video)

BOSTON — Anyone who claims that a dunk is only worth two points has never been in the building when a player delivered a true facial to a helpless defender. Jeff Green produced just such a highlight-reel dunk on Wednesday, when the reserve forward bulled into the lane, elevated over Al Jefferson and slammed the ball home over the reeling Utah Jazz center. The TD Garden crowd erupted...

Keith Bogans Did not Deserve a Flagrant Foul for his Hit on Leandro Barbosa

Last night’s Celtics/Nets game got a little testy late in the second quarter, when Boston’s Leandro Barbosa appeared to have an easy look at a basket in transition before being grabbed by Brooklyn’s Keith Bogans from behind.  The play appeared to be an obvious candidate for a flagrant foul call, which turned out to actually [...]

POTD 11/15/12: Brook Lopez on Jason Collins

Brook Lopez has the athleticism of a rock.  He leaps like a picnic table, floats like a brick, and dunks with the strength of a six-year-old girl.  He’s about as explosive as wet gunpowder, and his top speed is slower than dial-up internet. Most rocks are far more athletic than Jason Collins.  Honorable mention to Tyson Chandler, who loses because Brook Lopez dunked it backwards...

Al Jefferson hints that he'd love to play for Boston again

CSNNE's Sherrod Blakely posted a piece on Al Jefferson's return to Boston after the Celtics-Jazz game on Wednesday night. While most of the discussion about Big Al related to Jeff Green's monster dunk on him, Jefferson scored 13 points and grabbed 14 rebounds against the Celtics, and Doc Rivers highly touted his former player: "He just keeps getting better and...

Taking Stock: Celtics – Nets

After every game, we’ll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player’s overall value. Starters Offense:      Defense:      Overall: He did a great job of being aggressive.  He’s obviously not Rondo, but he’s just about as fast and any time you can push the tempo and force the defense to react, good things will happen.  Barbosa also...

Comments from the Other Side - Nets 11/16

Two things are certain from the comments. Nets fans hate Courtney Lee. They don't like having more Celtics fans at their games than Nets fans. And, they couldn't deny the fact that they caught several breaks from the refs. They also realize that they lucked out with Rondo's absence. Enjoy today's Comments... No Rondo. Jason Terry Discovers New, Different Possibilities as Shooter Alongside Rajon Rondo

BOSTON — Jason Terry is not the same old Jet this season. No matter what his shooting percentage may be, the transition in Boston after eight seasons in Dallas has not been seamless. There have been single-digit scoring games, like when he failed to make a basket in a win over Utah. There have been games in which he has been underused, such as the win in Washington when he clocked...

Jeff Green Has An Aerial Display Directly On Al Jefferson’s Head

Halfway through the fourth quarter of the Utah Jazz and Boston Celtics game, Jeff Green of the Celtics found some superhuman leaping abilities and applied them accordingly. Jeff drove down the lane and dunked over two defenders, but Al Jefferson was the one who ended up on a very life-sized poster. The dunk is an easy early season candidate for dunk of the year.
