I would not be surprised to see the Celtics go on a decent run, as teams off circle the wagons after horrible news like this. We'll have to wait and see if Danny Ainge decides to start the rebuilding now or just play for the best record possible. As the coach, Rivers has to stay positive saying that the team's title hopes are still alive. I expect KG and Pierce to say the same. Should be an interesting next few weeks leading up to the trade deadline.

Doc Rivers Tells Keyon Dooling To Get In Shape For Possible Comeback

Celtics coach Doc Rivers said before Tuesday’s practice that he has spoken with Keyon Dooling and informed him to starting getting in shape for a possible return. Dooling told the Globe on Sunday that he would consider coming out of retirement. He retired last summer despite agreeing to a one-year contract extension with the Celtics. “He would be the closest for me if we had...

The Loss of A Star: The Aftermath of the Rondo Injury

A torn ACL is a death sentence to any athlete. When a star in the league suffers that gruesome injury, all you can do is feel for them. It is a helpless feeling being that player, especially when they believe it is only a minor injury. That was the case for Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo, after he thought he had only hyperextended his knee during Boston’s double overtime loss...

Your Morning Dump..Where Ainge Resists Adding To C’s Roster

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted this just after midnight yesterday: For now, Celtics content to go w/ the four guards on roster and see how it plays out, league sources say. Barbosa’s minutes likely to rise...

Doc Rivers, LeBron James Expect Ray Allen to Get Emotional Reaction in Return to Boston

LeBron James says Celtics fans shout down anyone not dressed in green. Chris Bosh says emotions will be high. Ray Allen has returned to his former, diplomatic self, saying he’s happy to be in Boston but has moved on from being a Celtic. Celtics coach Doc Rivers? Well, despite all the riff-raff that happened when Allen first left and fired parting shots on his way out of Boston...

Doc Rivers, Celtics Will Be Interesting to Watch as Team Moves Forward Without Rajon Rondo

WALTHAM, Mass. — The long-sleeve T-shirt, three-quarter length pants and running shoes that have become Rajon Rondo‘s staple practice attire were conspicuously missing when the Celtics took the court on Tuesday. Two days later, the reality of the situation has had plenty of time to sink in. Rondo’s season-ending injury was not just some bad dream, and the Celtics really must...

Boston's Avery Bradley: a point made for this season

It seems like Doc Rivers will never have the team that he pictured having for the 2013 season. Even with all-star point man, Rajon Rondo running the show; it hasn't necessarily been panning out. One thing for sure Rondo's injury will prove once and for all, whether or not Avery Bradley has point guard skills. The Celtics need only to look at  the New England Patriots,...

Ainge expects Rajon Rondo to be ready for training camp

The moment we got news about Rajon Rondo’s torn ACL, all the armchair doctors on the planet offered up time-tables for his return. I heard anywhere from 8 to 16 months. Here’s what Danny Ainge told the Herald’s Mark Murphy: Though the recovery from reconstructive knee surgery can vary, depending on the player, Ainge said he expects Rondo to be ready for the start of training...

Starting 5

Every morning, we will give you five things from the night before in the NBA to start your day. 1: Soaring low in Atlanta Doc Rivers has been notably down on his team as they have gone through this losing skid and the team has had to question its status as legitimate contenders. Everyone seems to think Boston just needs the fire lit under it to regain the championship form...

Grizzlies & Nets emerge as possible landing spots for Pierce & Garnett

Danny Ainge is saying he hasn't decided what he's going to do with the Celtics. It was looking unlikely that the Celtics would be able to contend this season without a major trade. Now with Rajon Rondo out for the year Ainge has to decide whether adding a band aid for the season and hoping to make the 2nd round of the playoffs is the best strategy or if the team should go...

Dear Danny Ainge… You’re Welcome

There are a couple of points I would like to hit on before I dive into this glorious trade you see above. Over the past few days many Celtics’ bloggers have written various articles saying that Jeff Green needs to be inserted into the starting lineup over Paul Pierce. That it would allow Green to run with Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley while allowing Pierce to a primary scorer...

How the Celtics can fill the void left by Rondo's injury

Rondo’s absence has left a big hole in the Celtics’ roster and the question on everyone’s mind is: What do they do now? Free agents: ESPN’s Jackie MacMullan brought up Keyon Dooling's name as a possible replacement in the short term, but said Danny Ainge has already nixed that idea. She also suggested bringing Delonte West back into the fold, as he is currently a free...

Underrated Stat of the Night - Heat 1/27

The Celtics, despite losing Rondo for the season, won today's game. It took then two overtimes, but I'll take it. This was all defense for both teams, as the final score was just 100-98. Garnett led the Celtics with 24 points, followed by Pierce with 17 and Terry with 13. Lebron led the Heat with 34 points, followed by Allen with 21 and Wade with 17. Today's USOTN goes...
