Earlier today after practice, Doc Rivers said that backup guard Keyon Dooling was "questionable" for tomorrow's game against the Chicago Bulls at the TD Garden.  While there weren't too many details revealed other than 'knee ailments,' he may have banged knees pretty good getting screened by Dirk Nowitzki.  Check out the video below and judge for yourself.  He did play a few more minutes after this however, so it's very possible this is just a random play. ESPN Boston's Chris Forsberg updates the injury situation: * O'Neal, Dooling sit out: Both starting center Jermaine O'Neal and backup guard Keyon Dooling did not participate in Thursday's 90-minute practice session due to knee ailments. Rivers said it was more of a rest day for O'Neal (who appeared to be hobbled by a bothersome hamstring or knee in Wednesday...

Boston Celtics Doc Rivers Makes Critical Error Against Mavs

Let me be the first to say that being a head coach in the NBA is not easy. It is also even harder to be one in a rabid sports town like Boston. The media and fans can second guess and scrutinize every decision to the point that the situation can eat a person alive. I also normally do not second guess the coach because I realize that there are facets and inner workings of the team...

Celtics can't recover from horrific start, fall to Chicago

The Celtics play like garbage in the first half, digging themselves a hole so deep that it's quickly filling up with liquid hot magma. Doc Rivers reads them the riot act and the team comes on like gangbusters in the third quarter, playing tremendous defense, moving the ball and not settling for isolations. They get this close to breaking through and taking the lead before running...

Everything Is Wrong

Wednesday’s loss to the Dallas Mavericks shed some unpleasant light on the Celtics’ situation this season. Let’s start with the obvious. The team is slow, old and could barely keep up with the Mavericks, a team that is also, old and slow. Rondo is pushing the ball down the court like a man possessed but there is rarely anyone running with him. Pierce had a sluggish night, save...

Doc Rivers: C's need to improve toughness

WALTHAM - The Celtics don't have a bevy of beasts. They don't possess the kind of size that makes opponents call...

Boston Celtics Jeff Green’s Surgery Completed

“Surgery went well,” Rivers announced to the media following practice. “They’re saying it went great. Obviously, our thoughts, our prayers and every part of our being is with Jeff right now.” “The second [bit of] news we want to hear is that he’ll be able to play again,” Rivers said. “That would be terrific. I don’t care...

Rivers Wants Celtics To Improve Toughness

Doc Rivers wants the Celtics to be a "hit-first" team.

Doc Rivers wants Celtics to throw first punch. Figuratively.

The Boston Celtics won banner 17 in part because of their size — there are a big, physical team. Doc Rivers wants his Celtics to start showing it again, he told the Boston Herald. “We’re just not there yet as a team,” Rivers said after yesterday’s practice. “I think we’ve got a tough group of…

Doc Rivers says the Celtics are Rajon Rondo’s ‘team right now’

Boston's Ray Allen is having an incredible year, shooting nearly 56 percent from the floor and an astonishing (even for him) 63 percent from long range. He's missed just four free throws in 31 tries, while averaging 19 points per game. Kevin Garnett is still dashing all over the place defensively, helping to hold together a Boston defense that is full of holes at this point...

Is Celtics' Team Chemistry the Most Worrisome Part of Their Early-Season Struggles?

The biggest challenge in analyzing the Celtics might be finding something encouraging amid their struggles. The Celtics are fifth from the bottom in average scoring at less than 90 points per game. They have a relatively acceptable .463 field goal percentage but are coming off three straight games of slow starts. They are tied for the league's worst rebounding rate at 37 boards...

Doc Rivers: Boston Celtics are Rajon Rondo’s Team Now

The Boston Celtics (4-5) are struggling out of the gates so far this season, and according to head coach Doc Rivers, everyone must follow point guard Rajon Rondo’s lead. From the Boston Herald: “Unfailingly upbeat, Rivers reminded anyone who would listen that it’s early and that being 4-5 does not mean the season is lost. It does, however, mean something has to change...

Celtics, Doc Rivers won't panic on record

Dallas Mavericks 90, Boston Celtics 85

The Celtics were outrebounded 43-35 and it hurt them last night.  Rajon Rondo led the way for the Celtics last night with 24 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals.  Kevin Garnett also had a very solid game as he finished up with 16 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 blocked shot.  Ray Allen (9 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists) and Keyon Dooling (9 points and 1 steal) also...

Comeback falls short (Again), as Celtics lose 88-79

Getty Images The Celtics fell behind early again only to give the fans false hope as they lose to Chicago 88-79. What was once a 20 point deficit was erased to one point. Boston failed to pull off a comeback win for the second straight game after showing no signs of life in the first half. This game started with drama prior to tip off. Everyone was in anticipation on the status...

Doc Rivers: Boston is Rajon Rondo’s team now

Rajon Rondo is playing better than Kevin Garnett, better than Paul Pierce, better than Ray Allen this season. This is no longer 2008 where the Celtics were the “Big 3” with the young Rondo as the apprentice. Coach Doc Rivers doesn’t see it that way, he told A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com. “This is his…
