Ok, I know, there was no chance of the Boston Celtics signing Tim Duncan last offseason. He is a Spur for life and will probably go down as the best power forward to ever play this game (Kevin Garnett has a thing or two to say about that). Tim Duncan and Greg Popovich are the Tom Brady and Bill Belichick of the NBA, constant winners and always in contention. But all that said, let us just wish for a second that we pursued Tim Duncan.
Let's say we had Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo, and Danny Ainge all at Tim Duncan's door step on July 1st 2012 at 12 AM. Our persuasive argument to him is that we have the 2nd best defense in the league, only one true contender to go against in the east, the defending champs that we were one game away from beating to go to the finals, a hungry Kevin Garnett, a young superstar in Rajon Rondo, and probably the 2nd best coach in the NBA. The starting lineup would be: Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley, Paul Pierce, Kevin ...
BEST OF MAXIM
While you are digesting your Thanksgiving turkey, enjoy some of the bright spots of the game yesterday. Rajon Rondo dropped 22 points and 15 assists and almost brought the Celtics back, as the Celtics lost 112-102.

We are approaching that wonderful time of year when advanced stats and analysis become most useful. The sample size is large enough to show patterns, but the patterns don’t have to hold for the rest of the season because there are still so many games left. So no stats-heavy article written at this time of year should be calling for drastic changes and overhauls (unless that article...
I just got back from an 8-hour drive this Saturday with only one thing on my mind…except for a couple X-rated things. I just wanted to sit on my couch, watch the Celtics play the not so exciting Raptors. Why would I be so enthralled over one lousy regular season game? The answer has two words. RAJON RONDOOOOOOO. Man, I haven’t been so excited over a player on the Celtics since...
For all the Celtics fans hoping to keep up with Fab Melo and Kris Joseph as they play with the Red Claws, according to ESPN, the NBA will broadcast almost all of its D-League games this season live on YouTube.
They will be broadcasting 350 of 400 total regular-season games in high definition on the D-League YouTube channel and through a YouTube video player on NBA.com.
You learn something new every day. Jason Terry learned his shooting technique from George "Ice Man" Gervin. Wow!
And here is Iceman explaining how he got his nickname and the origin of his famous finger roll.

WALTHAM, Mass. — Doc Rivers saw a change in Darko Milicic a few weeks ago, almost as soon as the veteran center found out that his mother was ill. It was one thing for Milicic to deal with some professional setbacks with the Celtics, having played a grand total of five minutes all season. Adding personal angst made it even tougher.
“His mom’s sick, he’s not playing, the homesickness...
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
Based on Synergy Sports numbers, which are tracked on a standardized per-play basis, the Celtics rank 26th in overall defense (0.947 points per play), 30th in transition defense (1.459 ppp), and 16th in half-court...

Unable to truly grab traction at the start of the 2012-13 campaign, the Boston Celtics will get an early-season test against the reigning Western Conference champion, the Oklahoma City Thunder, on Friday.
Although the veterans of Beantown have lost a handful of games they probably shouldn’t have, they aren’t ruled out as contenders on the NBA futures.
With 25-1 odds of winning...
When Darko Milicic took his leave from the Celtics this week, many fans immediately recognized what that meant. Their team now had an open roster spot, and there was a name on the list of free agents who most of them recognized.

Talk about ironic. In the top 10 assists of the week, there isn't one assist from the league's assist leader. However, #2 belongs to Kevin Garnett. Good stuff and fun to watch.

Celtics Spurs: one of my favorite NBA match-ups. One that features the two preeminent big men of the new millennia as well as two of the league's best coaches. But the similarities don't end there. Both teams feature a trio of All-Stars who have sacrificed scoring, playing time, and salary for the good of their perspective teams.
