Rondo got robbed of an assist when Garnett got hit.
Rajon Rondo's spectacular streak of 30 games with 10+ assists has led me to keep a very close eye on his ball distribution of late. As he continues to climb his way up the charts towards the all-time record, I watch each game intently keeping track of his assist count.
While at the Garden last Wednesday I noticed three or four occasions where Rondo found guys open at the rim, only to lose out on an assist because KG, Sullinger, or Chris Wilcox got fouled and missed the layup. And that got me wondering, why is this the case?
The fact that his teammates were fouled doesn't make Rondo's passes any less valuable. If the player still makes the free throws, and the points still go on the board, why shouldn't the passer still get credited for the assist? And if the shooter makes one of two* foul shots, why not award half an assist on the play? Obviously changing the rule now would make it impossible to compare reco...
BEST OF MAXIM
We’ve all heard billions of times about Kevin Garnett’s obscene plus-minus numbers. And the Boston Celtics’ trend of deteriorating with KG on the court is continuing this season. After last night’s loss, Rajon Rondo explained what happens whenever Garnett moves to the bench. (Hint: Hide yo’ kids, hide yo’ wife, close your eyes and take a shot of Jameson.) (Boston Herald...
The Boston Celtics entered the season expected to contend with the Miami Heat (and possibly others) for the Eastern Conference title. They’re off to a 3-3 start, which isn’t bad, but certainly not impressive when you consider that two of the wins came against the Wizards. One of the main problems for the Celtics is their age. Kevin Garnett is 36 and Paul Pierce is 35, which...

Rajon Rondo had 20 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Boston Celtics to a 101-95 win over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night.
Rondo took advantage of Bulls point guard Nate Robinson for three quarters, helping the Celtics build a 12-point lead on 56-percent shooting. He extended his streak of consecutive games with 10 or more assists to 31, the longest in the NBA since...
The Celtics had a pretty good team win against an injury riddled Chicago Bulls team. This is not an indictment on the win, but how well they came together defensively. The dreaded KG swoon did not occur. When Doc took KG out of the game, the team did not fall apart.
There is also Rajon Rondo, who is starting to find players in their preferred spots, with Jason Terry being...
The Celtics mantra has and always will be "we got to grind it out." they have no choice, given how their season is going. It all boils down to trust and learning how to play in a different way.
Last year's role players were great defenders, but couldn't find the hoop when it mattered. That anemic Game Seven in the Eastern Conference Finals was oh so painful...
Kevin Garnett is still the heart and soul of the Boston Celtics defense
The Boston Celtics fell to 2-3 on the season after losing 106-100 to the Philadelphia 76ers in the Garden on Friday. The lost also dropped their home record to 1-2. The Celtics are struggling to find their chemistry on both sides of the ball, at an incredibly inconsistent rate. There are times when they are putting...
The NBA announced All-Star ballots for each team today, and the Celtics are well represented, with five players.

8 a.m. ET: Nate Robinson’s stay in Boston was relatively brief, but the 98 games he spent with the Celtics from 2010 to 2011 left an impression on fans and members of the organization alike. Much has changed since then, but one thing is right back to where it was when Robinson served as a sparkplug off the Boston bench: Robinson and Tom Thibodeau are once again player and coach...
After every game, we’ll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player’s overall value.
Offense: 20 points on a very efficient 10-16 shooting. He hit 5 of 6 shots at the rim, and 5 of 8 from everywhere else inside the 3-point line. A few of his turnovers were sloppy, but a few of his passes were spectacular.
Defense: He played the passing lanes...
The Celtics won another very ugly game as they prevailed over the Milwaukee Bucks and avenged the loss in their home opener. They started off slow, struggling to hit shots and once again lacking defense. Milwaukee scored 30 of the first 38 points in the paint. But, in the second half, the Celtics tightened the defense and were able to execute down the stretch to get their 3rd...

In a rematch of the most entertaining seven-game series I have been alive for, the Bulls and the Celtics square off in Chicago at 8:00 pm. This should be the first real test for the Celtics since their opener against the Miami Heat and a test of team cohesion. The boys from Boston have played and lost to some of the middle-of-the-pack teams in the NBA, this will be a good litmus...
