Maurice Evans remains sidelined with a sore right knee and will get an MRI when the Wizards return home from Milwaukee. Evans re-signed with the Wizards before their preseason opener but has been unable to practice the past week after development pain and swelling in his surgically-repaired knee. He said the pain was reminiscent to what he felt before having surgery in August of 2010 to repair torn cartilage in his right knee and is “fearful” that the problem may have returned. Wizards get tech after inactive list player enters

Washington coach Flip Saunders got Roger Mason involved early Friday against Milwaukee. One problem: Saunders forgot to put him on the active list. The Wizards were whistled for a technical foul in the first quarter after Mason entered the game despite being ineligible to play. Mason checked in for Jordan Crawford with 3:27 remaining and made a baseline jumper seven seconds later...

Blatche A Captain To Nowhere

It might surprise you to know Andray Blatche is a team captain for the Washington Wizards. The sometimes moody Blatche is a middling player, averaging a career-high 16.8 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game, although he shot just 44.5 percent from the floor and seemed to favor his mid-range jumper more than any post moves he might have. But Blatche is a team captain, and you...

John Wall's Development Already In Put In Jeopardy By Wizards' Disfunction

John Wall is not yet a "floor general." He's not quite a "facilitator," although he's closing in on becoming the Washington Wizards' "engine." It remains to be seen what sort of metaphor develops to describe the second-year guard out of Kentucky, who visits the Garden on Sunday to face the Celtics. More than any other position, point guard...

Wizards vs. Hawks: Game 2 open thread

The Washington Wizards opened the regular season on Monday with a loss to the New Jersey Nets at Verizon Center, blowing a 21-point first half lead. After the game, Andray Blatche ignited a firestorm by calling for more touches in the paint, then telling his critics to “shut up” via Twitter. Check out Jason Reid’s take on Blatche’s qualifications to be team captain. Read...

Nick Young Eager To Change Unprofessional Perception

Nick Young is leading the Wizards in scoring.

Wizards get technical for playing ineligible player. Nice.

They are still the Washington Wizards. Coach Flip Saunders sent Roger Mason with 3:27 left in the first quarter, according to CSNWashington.com. He promptly sank a nice little baseline jumper. The problem — Saunders hadn’t put Mason on the active roster. At the first timeout after the bucket the Wizards were assessed a technical. The…

Wizards’ Jordan Crawford returns to Atlanta a starter

Jordan Crawford is returning to Atlanta in a much different — and better position — than he left. Crawford was a seldom-used reserve on a playoff team, settling for garbage-time minutes whenever the Hawks had gotten enough out of all-star in Joe Johnson and sixth-man extraordinaire Jamal Crawford. But when the Wizards face the Hawks on Wednesday, Jordan Crawford is a starting...

Kirk Hinrich gone but presence with Wizards still felt

The Wizards avoided facing Kirk Hinrich when they got trounced by 18 points on Wednesday in Atlanta, but that didn’t necessarily mean that his presence wasn’t felt. Hinrich has been sidelined since early November as he recovers from surgery to remove a cyst and repair the labrum in his left shoulder and feels like he’s only “got one foot in” with the Hawks since he can’t...

Wizards Recap–Week 1

I’ll keep this as brief as I can for I’m sure, Wizards fan or not, reading about a hapless franchise can’t hold your attention for more than three minutes. The Wizards lost their first two games of this shortened NBA season in expected fashion.  First, they blew a 24-7 first quarter lead against the Nets at home losing by six in the final minutes.  Then, on the...
