The Celtics waived Keyon Dooling, who decides to "pursue other interests" outside of the NBA: on.nba.com/OeZTxX #iamaceltic
— Boston Celtics (@celtics) September 20, 2012
I leave the computer for a couple hours for dinner and come back to this. I can honestly say I never saw this coming. Keyon was such a great leader and was a great influence on Rajon. It was just a few days ago we posted Keyon's profile on Celtics Green.
Here is what Celtics.com press release has to say:
"Keyon has decided that he has given the NBA 12 good years and that it's
time to pursue other interests and spend more time with his family,"
said Dooling's representative Kenge Stevenson. "He will never forget his
time in Boston with the Celtics."
"We'll miss Keyon's spirit and energy, both on and off the court," said
Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge. "The whole
Celtics family wishes him well as he enters the next phase of his life."
I can honestly say that even if Keyon wasn't going to play a minute this season, his presence will be greatly missed. I know every Celtics fan wishes him the best in whatever he does.

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

The agent for Keyon Dooling is refuting reports that his client is interested in joining the Miami Heat (courtesy ESPN Boston’s Chris Forsberg):
“He’s comfortable with where he is right now,” Stevenson said Saturday. “It was his decision to step away.”

Keyon Dooling’s agent refuted the rumor that his client is interested in signing with the Miami Heat… at least for the time being. (ESPN Boston)Dooling was born in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and there was some buzz that he might be interested in playing in nearby Miami if it allowed him to see his family more often. Stevenson said there’s no truth to that at the moment.“He’s...
It was a busy day for the Celtics. First they signed Darko Milicic and then they reported that Keyon Dooling has decided to retire. The Darko signing came up quickly, but it wasn't really a surprise because there were rumors that Danny had called him when the Wolves first waived him. The Dooling retirement came out of nowhere though.
My first thought was whether...
When the Boston Celtics waived Jermaine O’Neal last season, he was rumored to have interest in joining the Miami Heat. Only one minor problem existed within that theory: O’Neal had suffered a season-ending injury and wasn’t well enough to return to the basketball court for the season’s remainder. So when noise arised that Keyon Dooling now has interest in joining the Heat...
It pains me to say this, but the entire flexing squad of last year (as pictured above) is no longer with the Celtics with the news that Keyon Dooling was waived by the Celtics today. First the news via Celtics.com:“Keyon has decided that he has given the NBA 12 good years and that it’s time to pursue other interests and spend more time with his family,” said Dooling’s...
Dooling was a solid role player during his career in the NBA. He did great work for Boston behind the arc last season. But now, $29mil later, it’s time for Dooling to move onto bigger and better things, like family.
It was a fun 12 years Keyon, thanks.
MIAMI So much for Keyon Dooling wanting to join the Miami Heat.
The Orlando Sentinel had reported Saturday word was the point guard, who had been waived by Boston on Friday with the belief he would retire, had interest in the Heat. But the native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., denied that.
"No truth!'' Dooling wrote in an email to FOX Sports Florida. "I will never...

The Orlando Sentinel had this little tidbit tucked away inside an article on the upcoming Magic season:

With the days until training camp quickly thinning, first-year players Dionte Christmas, Jamar Smith and Kris Joseph reportedly planned to be civil to each other off the court, but brutally competitive on it.
