As many of you now know, I am a big fan of guys that play the game the right way. Guys who respect the game. Guys who truly enjoy playing, and would play the game even if they weren't getting paid. Sure, there are many of these guys in the NBA today, but one guy exemplifies 'class' and how the game should be played. That guy is Walter Ray Allen, you may also know him as Jesus Shuttlesworth. Of all the people within the Celtics' organization that I was happy for, I was happiest for Ray Ray. His commitment to this team was unmatched. He sacrificed personal accolades, just as others did, for the good of the team. Once a ruthless jump-shooter, Ray struggled to find his niche in these playoffs. Ray's struggles were well-chronicled by the National Media, but he just kept doing what has worked for him since he led Hillcrest High School to the South Carolina state title in '92-93. He's also one of the most well-spoken, nicest guys you'll find in the NBA...

  • I met him when I was 11 years old, and he was probably about 20. He was playing for UCONN then and during the summer he would come to a bunch of basketball camps around CT to meet the kids. He hung out with us all day (from 8 AM until the very last kid left) and we got to have a few shoot arounds with him. I've got a picture of myself at 11 draining a three pointer over him while he loosely guarded me. It's my prize possession and I'll never forget it even if though he could have easily stolen the ball from me and ran the length of the court before I even knew what happened.

Never have I met a nicer guy.
  • I'll never forget it even though*

I don't know how the 'if' got in there ;X
  • You get pluses from me... That is the stuff you loving hereing you don't see that much any more... That is a class act... The auto means nothing.... I remember I was at chickie and petes in south philly and I verson was there... The waitress asked him for an auto... He flipped out and demanded the waitress to be fired.... About 25 minutes later a 8 year old Kid with an Iverson shirt on wen't up to him for an auto he said to the child and I will never forget this...
