Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. But there's much, much more to Rondo than meets the fans' eyes.  Like a hermit crab that outgrows its shell and needs to find a new one, Rondo has outgrown his role in Boston.  In 2008, he was pretty perfect for the Celtics.  He was too young to demand too many finishing touches and his running mates were still too good to be denied the ball.  They could run, somewhat, with their young gazelle and Rondo could use his superior passing skills to pick targets out at will and watch them finish.  As time has gone on, though, the rest of the team has slowed down.  And Rondo has been forced to slow down with them.  Kevin Garnett can't beat anyone down the floor, or bait teams into these kinds of alley oops anymore.  Paul Pierce was never flying down the lane on a break, but he's been even slower t...

With Rose Out, Rondo Grabs Triple Double, Johnson Proves Himself In Celtics Win Over Bulls

With Derrick Rose out of action in today’s affair due to a back injury, Rajon Rondo took control of todays contest grabbing his second triple double of the season with a 32 point,15 assist, and 10 rebound affair in a Celtics 95-91 victory. Interestingly Rondo ducked out of the locker room before talking to the [...]

Rajon Rondo's career high not enough to beat Pistons

The Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics were locked in a close game until Ben Gordon hit four threes in the fourth quarter to spark his team as the Pistons built a late game lead as large as 13 and beat Boston at the TD Garden 98-88. Rajon Rondo scored 35 points while dishing out 6 assists. With Kevin Garnett sidelined, Chris Wilcox scored 17 points as a starter. The inability of...

Celtics hold off Chicago 95-91

So what if the Celtics were taking on a Bulls team that was missing last season's MVP? Who cares? Last time I checked, they don't dock your victory if you play a team with their superstar forced to watch from the bench. A win is a win is a win. The Celtics got that win two days after one of the most pathetic performances of the current Big Three era. Boston...

Starting 5: Rondo's Quiet Triple Double, Kobe's Loud Game-Winner

Every morning, we'll give you five things from the night before in the NBA to start your day. 1: Rumors of Celtics and Lakers demise... a bit overstated? Just when you think you have the Lakers and Celtics pegged as old, they go out and prove that there is still fight in these veteran teams. Yes, nobody should be overlooking Boston or Los Angeles any time soon. These are both...

Rondo's triple-double lifts Celtics past Bulls

Rajon Rondo collected a triple-double with 32 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds as the Boston Celtics posted a 95-91 victory over the visiting Chicago Bulls on Sunday. Rondo, who shot 11 for 22 from the floor and 10 for 13 from the line, had little trouble working around backup point guards C.J. Watson and John Lucas III. Bulls star Derrick Rose sat for the second straight game...

Rajon To The Rescue, Rondo Racks Up Triple-Double As Celtics Top Bulls 95-91

The Chicago Bulls and the Boston Celtics entered their contest Sunday afternoon at the “New Garden” with rosters that were depleted by injury. The Bulls were without All-Star point guard Derrick Rose who was suffering from back spasms; while veteran guard Richard Hamilton was on the sidelines with a bruised thigh. Boston would take to the court minus starting center Jermaine...

Comments from the other side - Pistons 2/15

Another team that is set on tanking and then ends up cheering to beat the Celtics. It's amazing how much beating the Celtics means to most teams. There's a lot of Celtics hate out there. And more fans who hate the players on their own team. And, of course, more hate for the Celtics announcers. I know the comments are more fun when we win, but there are still some good...

Rondo's triple-double carries Celtics over Bulls

Rajon Rondo recorded a triple-double with 32 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds to lead the Boston Celtics to a 95-91 win Sunday over the Chicago Bulls, who were without star guard Derrick Rose.

A new direction…Celtics escape the Bulls 95-91

The Boston Celtics shook off the effects of their two game loosing streak and defeated the Chicago Bulls 95-91 on Sunday. Rajon Rondo took advantage of the Bulls who were without the reigning MVP, Derrick Rose, and triple doubled with 32 points, 15 assists, and 10 rebounds. Boston never trailed in this game but it was anything but a dominating victory.  Throughout the game Boston...

Celtics collapse against another bad team

Well folks, we might be able to point to this game as the end of the new Big 3 era.  Because effort and execution get no worse than this.  The Celtics let the Pistons hang around for 3 quarters and then they crapped themselves as they got out-scored 25-16 in the fourth quarter.... leading to a 98-88 loss to the Detroit Pistons. Yeah, those Pistons. Paul Pierce had a game so...
